Введение.

Учебное пособие включает тексты для чтения по нефтяной тематике.

Аудиторное чтение играет основную роль в овладении словарным запасом и в

привитии навыков

общего

понимания текста, и представляет

интерес с

познавательной точки зрения. Тексты второй части пособия актуальны и

заимствованы из учебника Американского Нефтяного Института «Primer ofНИOil

and Gas Production». Представлены статьи по технологиям нефтедобычи,

технологической обработке скважин, опробованию скважин и нефтегазовому

оборудованию.

Petroleum.

The word “petroleum” comes from the two Latin words: PETRA, meaning rock

matter. The physical and chemical properties of different samples of petroleumАГ are not uniform. They depend on the composition of oil and presence of impurities.

There are also other compounds which contain oxygen, nitrogen and inorganic

Petroleum contains gaseous, liquid and solid hydrocarbons of different composition and properties. These gaseous, solid and liquid hydrocarbons fall into three main classes: paraffines, napthenes and aromatic hydrocarbons.

The colour of petroleum varies considerably. Some oils may be almost
colourless, others are light yellow, red, green, brown and black.			ка
The odour of crude oil is also determined by its composition. The paraffines

and napthenes give agreeable odours while unsaturated hydrocarbons containing nitrogen compounds and sulphur cause the disagreeable odours.

The specific gravity of crude oil is an index to its value. The lighter oils have

greater value because they contain larger quantities of gasoline and other valuable

The boiling-point depends on the presence of hydrocarbons of low and high
