Представлены два раздела. Первый раздел содержит разработку четырех уроков. Второй раздел содержит материал для самостоя тельной работы студентов по данной теме.

Предназначены для студентов 1 курса, изучающих английский язык.

ВВЕДЕНИЕ

Данные методические указания разработаны в соответствии с Программой учебной дисциплины «Иностранный язык», принятой в Сибирском государственном индустриальном университете на основе ФГОС для бакалавров неязыковых направлений подготовки.

Основная цель этих методических указаний – помочь преподавателям организовать практические занятия коммуникативной направленности по теме “Dwellings”.

На практические занятия по вышеуказанной теме, согласно учебному плану, выделено шесть часов (занятия 3 – 5) в первом семестре.

Основная задача занятий коммуникативной направленности – сосредоточение внимания на теме и на ситуациях, максимально приближенных к реальной жизни. Грамматика даётся небольшими дозами по мере необходимости и закрепляется на практике в контексте изучаемой темы. У студентов должно появляться ощущение практической необходимости и пользы изучения иностранного языка. Автором разработан подробный план проведения занятий, подкреплённый методическими материалами.

Самостоятельная работа студентов по теме включает следующие виды работы:

контрольно-тренировочные упражнения для закрепления грамматического материала,

текст для внеаудиторного чтения объёмом 1364 печатных знаков,

подготовку проекта “My Flat” или “My House”, презентацию которого предполагается проводить на занятии.

Преподавателям рекомендуется давать студентам материалы из данного раздела в качестве домашнего задания.

Автор желает успехов в освоении темы и выражает надежду, что данные методические указания помогут в этом.

11. Listen to the description of a kitchen and fill in the gaps.

It’s a modern kitchen, nice and clean with a lot of cupboards.

Find out where your mates live and tell the class.

Marina lives in a house in Tochilino.

Oleg lives in a block of flat in Kirov Street.

3. How many floors are there in your house or block of flats?

There are two floors in my house.

I live in a five-storey block.

Ask your neighbours how many floors / storeys there are in their blocks of flats. Who in your group lives on the ground floor / top floor?

4.Answer the questions about your house / block.

1.Is there a lift in your block of flats?

2.Is there a yard or garden near it?

3.Is there a bus stop near it? How long does it take you to get there?

4.Are there any shops nearby?

5.Is there a secondary or nursery school nearby?

6.Are there any trees and flowers in the yard?

9.Is the yard clean? Who looks after it – the residents or the yardkeeper?

6.Do you live far from the university? How do you get to university

– by car, by bus, by tram, by trolleybus or on foot? How long does it take you to get to university?

It takes 30 minutes to get here by bus.

7. Is your flat comfortable? Who takes care of it? Is it always clean? Do you help your parents, or elder bother / sister to look after the flat / house? What odd-job do you do around the house? Use the following pictures if you need a hand.

I live in a house near the sea. It’s an old house, about

100 years old, and it’s very small. There are two bedrooms upstairs but no bathroom. The bathroom is downstairs next to the kitchen. There is a living room where there’s a lovely old fireplace. There’s a garden in front of the house. The garden goes down to the beach and in spring and summer there are

flowers everywhere.

I live alone with my dog, Boxer, but we have a lot of visitors. My city friends often stay with me.

I love my house for many reasons: the garden, the flowers in summer, the fire in winter, but the best thing is the view from my bedroom window.
