1. What makes a good communicator? Give examples of good and bad communicators.

In my opinion, we can divide the problem of communication into two aspects: communication between people inside organization and communication between companies and their customers. Speaking about first point of this question it was estimated that business of less then 200 individuals can operate through the free flow of information among the members. But in larger organization some kind of hierarchical structure or line management system is necessary to prevent total chaos resulting from failures of communication. One solution of this problem would be to structure organization into smaller units of a size that can act as a cohesive group. But good communicator, especially it refer to chief-executives officers, should remember about such aspects as at first less flexibility of big organization (to my mind the main problem in most of big Russian companies is bureaucracy). Secondary we can talk about lack of personalized contact between employees in big corporation when there is established the world of small group. And at third, of cause, good communicator must be informed that information in imposing structure can only flow along certain channels because only certain individuals contact each other regularly. Also I suppose that too formal structure of relationship inevitably inhibits the way of system work. And good communicator must be able to build direct personal relationship. As it was proved by experience of American company with coffee-room, work efficiency is failing when people can’t discuss some problems with colleagues from other section and try to solve them together.

Communication between companies and their customers is the second aspect of building good communication and so two important things for this can be marked. The first is new technology and the second is the grasp that education and training is necessary. In terms of new technology e-mail or Intranet site is necessary to react quickly and to be more flexible. Example of good communication between company and its customer is the relationship between MediaCom TMB and Volkswagen Group (VAG). To get communication line very clear they set up Intranet site between two companies. VAG can comment very quickly on changes they need to be made and MediaCom can respond back with speed. Also good communicators should be able to talk very clear to explain to client the basic essence and try use jargon only it can’t be avoided. Because when there are fundamental breakdown in communication company can lost client.

Concluding this topic I should say that, in my opinion, it’s impossible to be a good manager but a poor communicator and bad communicator at the title of chief-executives officer can be cause of really serious problem in organization.
