Curriculum Vitae
PRESENTATION
Curriculum Vitae (CV) means the course of one's life. A CV is also called a résumé, resumé or resume (especially in American English). Your CV is a summary of your professional/academic life until now, and it usually concentrates on your personal details, education and work experience.
1.Study the examples of CVs 1―3 below and say what information a typical CV includes.
CV 1
5
There are a number of ways of presenting information in a CV which depends on your objective, your strengths and specifics of the position you are applying for. CV 1 and CV 2 are typical for an experienced professional, while CV 3 is typical for a recent graduate.
Bear in mind, these days, it is generally unnecessary to mention marital status, children, age, or current salary unless specifically asked to do so, but this will vary according to the law and custom in different countries (it's illegal in the USA).

2.Work in pairs. Look through CVs in Exercise 1 again and find as many differences relating to their layout as possible.
Example: CV 2 contains more headings than CV 3, but less than CV 1. There is no Nationality section in CV 2 and CV 3 in contrast to CV 1. CV 2 is the longest.
7
3. In general, 5 or 6 headings will be enough for most CVs. However, sometimes you will want to use more headings ― when applying for a particular job for which additional information is required. How do you think which headings in CVs in Exercise 1 are obligatory and which are optional? Fill in the following table.

optional |
First name, last name |
Date of birth |
