Attempted unauthorized boarding
The following actions should be considered in case there is an attempt by intruders, pirates or armed robbers to board the vessel while at sea, anchor or in port, from unauthorized access points such as the anchor chain, ship side railings, mooring ropes etc.

At sea if attempts are made to board the vessel using boats and ropes and grapnels, the following may be done-

If the attempted intruders are armed and use such arms against persons on deck operating hoses or axes, activity given above should be stopped immediately so as not to expose the crew to danger. |

Once on board the vessel, if the intruders are found to be armed pirates who only wish to “grab and run” no effort should be made to fight them or stand in the way of their escape back to their boat. |

On receiving the threat
If a bomb threat is delivered by letter, after reading it, try to ensure it is handled as little as possible and preserved for handing to authorities.
