Kurt Vonnegut

There are two books that I highly reccomend to everyone interested in subjects that make you think a little more than usual "Cat's Cradle" and "The Sirens of Titan". Both books are by Kurt Vonnegut.

"Cat's Cradle" - amazing story... Told from the point of view of a writer who is working on a book about an extremely famous scientist - father of the atomic bomb (in the book... not in real life... just a sidenote...). His [writer's] life gets intertwined with the lives of the scientist's children, who are carrying a secret substance (Ice 9), invented by their father in order to help the military. The substance, highly scarse (there are only a few grams of it in existence), highly valuable and highly lethal may seem much less dangerous, comparing to atomic bomb, but the "scale" is just an illusion... The one posessing the "Ice 9" - posesses great power for it has the ability to end the world as we know it...

Throughout the whole book you observe the lives of each character and their personal conquests... You can not say that you are reading a science fiction book... for everything in it has such a close relationship with reality...

It deals with political issues, religious issues, personal issues, social issues... yet in a very very intriguing way...
