  1. Have you been to one of the countries categorized as collectivistic and/or individualistic? If so, what communication differences did you notice between those cultures and the Ukrainian culture?

Unfortunately, I haven’t managed to to go abroad, but from the stories of my friends and watching on YouTube videos from different countries, I can say, that in in individualistic societies people are motivated primarily self-interest and the interests of immediate family members. In answering the question, "Who am I? 'Representatives collectivist cultures tend to answer in terms of social status (" I - a son, I - the Chinese, I - a fan "), and individualistic - in terms of personal characteristics (" I - a creative person, I - leader "). People in individualistic countries think about themselves, so, for example, in America, it is not surprising that the question "how are you" is simply a matter of politeness, the man who asked this question did not expect you to answer truthfully with all the details.

2. Is face maintenance a critical part of the Ukrainian society? Use examples in your response.

If I correctly understood the question, I think it's omething between. On the one hand most people think more about themselves and their desires, but on the other hand, you can sometimes see the support of certain groups of people. I would say that the characteristic feature of the Ukrainian society is a lack of trust. The formation of the specific features of the Ukrainian mentality was influenced by long-term occurrence of Ukrainian lands in the various kinds of public entities and as long struggle for independence, gave rise to such mental qualities that would seem to contradict each other. On the one hand, the Ukrainian freedom-loving individualists, the other hand, the centuries of serfdom gave birth to a sense of support and community.
