  1. The question of the origin of language was for some time banned from the field of interest of linguistics. Why? When?(Describe in short; 10 sentences).

It depending on the religious beliefs, ideology, the philosophical trends. Linguists can't answer the question of language origin without referring to the evidence from other sciences. The question of the origin of language was for some time banned because of the lack of direct evidence, since neither languages nor the ability to produce them fossilizes.

  1. Summarize the difference between divine and secular theories of language origin (10 sentences).

Belief in divine creation.  Many societies throughout history believed that language is the gift of the gods to humans. The fact that there are now many languages rather than just one is explained in Judeo-Christian tradition in the story of the Tower of Babel: linguistic diversity is a punishment for human arrogance.

Secular theories believes that the earliest form of language was imitative, or echoic; that language at first consisted of emotional ejaculations of pain, fear, surprise, pleasure, anger, and so on; language arose out of the rhythmical chants of men and women working together;  language began with the easiest syllables attached to the most significant objects;

  1. Which theory – monogenesis or polygenesis – is more realistic? Express your point of view (10 sentences).

I think that the real answer is a mixture of mono- and polygenesis: there were many periods when tribes maintained close contact with each other, borrowing heavily across the grammatical spectrum throughout a dialect continuum for centuries, and then underwent periods of individuation, due to geographical or cultural effects; during one of these periods, one of these speech patterns would finally qualify for whatever formal definition we have of "language," and during the next period of mixture, maybe it was borrowed from more than it borrowed. But then, say, a thousand years later, a dialect half a continent away, to which only a small portion of those innovations filtered, innovated enough on its own to where you could call it a "language." This whole scenario is to bear out the point that what we really have is a mess.

  1. Is it possible to find the “only right” theory of language origin? Explain your point (100 words).

I think that we can’t find only right theory of language origin because it depends on many factors and we have lack of direct evidence. There are many theories of origin language, but in each of the theories can be found deficiencies, no one theory can on a hundred percent explain the origin of language.

  1. Write an essay on the topic “The Bible on language” (350 words).

We do not know exactly when and how, by whom was invented language. We have a few theories about the origin of language. Someone believes in divine theory, believes that language was given to us by God, someone believes in secular theories, that tries to explain the origin language rational. Each theory has its flaws. Linguists can't answer the question of language origin without referring to the evidence from other sciences. We can not say occurred all the languages from one or not. But we can not deny the similarity between certain groups of languages.
