2. Choose a job (You may imagine another job which is ideal for you. Describe this job and with this job in mind do the same tasks). Student A prepares the resume and writes an application letter to a prospective employer asking for an interview. Student B prepares for the interview. Before you complete this task answer the following questions.

1.What is a resume? What information should you include in your resume?

2.How should the information included in the resume be expressed?

3.How many pages can the resume consist of?

4.What are the recommended headings of the resume?

5.How should you list the steps of your education and work experience?

6.Is it necessary to include the information about special skills in the resume?

7.Is it necessary to list personal data?

8.Should you include your hobbies and interests?

9.Is it obligatory to enclose references with your resume?

10.What impression do you try to give in an application letter?

11.Should an application letter be hand-written, typed or laser-printed?

12.Do you always tell absolute truth in application letters?

13.What is the standard structure of an application letter?

14.What is the purpose of writing an application letter?

3.Send your resume and the letter to your prospective employer. You may work in pairs or small groups. After you receive the invitation prepare for the interview.

4.Act out an interview. You may use tips that follow.

General Advice

Be confident and make the interviewer think that you are a self-confident person

If you have any doubts, keep them to yourself

Know as much as you possibly can about the program or job you’re applying for before you go for the interview

Try to relax before and during the interview

About the Questions

Listen carefully and make sure that you answer the question that the interviewer asked

Make eye contact with the interviewer between 50 % and 75 % of the time

Try to prepare yourself for any potentially sensitive questions

Honesty

Always tell the truth because the Interviewer:

1.Can check and verify the information you give him/her

2.May know more about you than you think

3.Will get a very poor impression of you if it becomes apparent that you’ve lied

Appearance Matters

Dress conservatively

Dress appropriately

Choose colors carefully

Don’t dress sensually

Nails should be combed

Use an anti-perspirant

Polish your shoes

Don’t wear much jewelry

Silence

The interviewer uses it to add some stress
