Introduction
We love and know fairy tales since childhood. “Will you tell me a tale?” It’s a common question of a child to his mum or dad, granny or granpa. A tale lived, lives and will live for centuries because it is a real miricle.
All fairy tales dated back to the early days of people’s history. A man came out of the world of animals. But thousands of years had passed before a man learned how to built warm houses, domesticated animals and began tilling the land. At that time people knew little about the world. There was so much unusual around: nature, distant lands, the sky, the bottom of the ocean. People believed in some magic power, in kind and evil spirits. As a result, fairy tales appeared.
People always dreamed about happy life. A man lived in a dug-out house but he dreamed about beautiful palaces; he walked his way through forests and marshes but pictured rich harvest grown in a night.All fairy tale characters overcame all the difficulties and gained the point.
People loved deeply their fairy tales characters and always described them as clever, honest, brave and kind-hearted. Kind wizards, animals simple people supported and helped such characters. Greedy, wicked, envious persons were always laughed at and punished.
The objectives of my work are
to find information about classifications of tales;
to find similarities and differences between Russian and Scottish tales;
to explaine the reasons why tales were created.
I used the following methods for my research:
critical study of special literature
comparison and contrast
description
questionnaire.

My working hypothesis is Russian and Scottish tales have something in common.
