THE GERUND

Exercise 1. Translate the sentences into Russian and define the

functions of the Gerund.

  1. His being sent to London was quite unexpected to us.

Exercise 4. Translate into Russian making difference between the

Gerund and the Participle.

THE INFINITIVE

Exercise 1. Translate the sentences into Russian and define the

functions of the Infinitive.

6. I am waiting to be told the results of negotiations.

COMPLEX OBJECT

He wants me + to read this book. – Он хочет, чтобы я прочел эту

книгу.

He wants his book + to be published. – Он хочет, чтобы его книгу

напечатали.

The Complex Object is used after the following verbs:

Exercise 2. Translate the sentences with the Complex Object into

Russian.
