2. What are the main tourist motivations?

Main purpose of visits to Russia has been always that

of personal motives, including holidays and leisure, or other personal motives, mainly

visiting friends and relatives

Business tourism or MICE

Cultural tourism is currently one of the main driving forces of the tourist phenomena, accounting for a significant part of the world’s tourist flows.

Cultural heritage and historical sites, dance, music and theatre performances, art galleries, museums and exhibitions, religious and worship sites and ethnic traditions are the main attractions for tourists motivated by knowledge seeking, self-development and the desire to experience other cultures. Although cultural motivations play an important role in the generation of tourist flows towards cultural tourism destinations, a tourism experience is rarely generated as a result of a single motivation. The act of choosing a specific destination and tourism product is influenced by multiple motivations, not only cultural but also connected to relaxation or family. Furthermore, tourism products are rarely homogeneous – a single holiday may include experiences with cultural content as well as leisure time, sports, adventure or entertainment. Thus, culture is not always the main motivation behind cultural tourism and may in fact be less central to the decision to travel than other factors. This is particularly true in the case of destinations which dispose of various cultural assets, but whose natural tourist resources – such as landscape, climate, access to the sea – also makes them attractive for other types of tourism.

ИЛИ ИЗ УЧЕБНИКА:

  1. to escape from the daily routine

  2. to find out how other people live

  3. to visit friends and relatives

  4. to realize an ambition

  5. to acquire social status

I think we can identify three main reasons why people travel to leisure. First of all, they want to recharge their batteries, just get away, chill out and then come back refreshed. So, for instance, this might be short break to the capital city like Rome.

Second, they may be fulfilling a dream. For example, a couple has been saving up for a long time in order to go on a round-the-world cruise. We could call this `wish fulfillment`. And, thirdly, I think people often to travel to gain prestige so that when they come back, they can impress their colleagues, friends or family.

3. Describe domestic tourism in rf nowadays

Domestic tourism is tourism involving residents of one country traveling only within that country. The value of domestic tourism for the Russian economy: an increase in jobs in hotels, restaurants, food industry and transport. The most popular route within Russia is so called "trip around golden ring" - it is usually done with religious purposes. Nowadays high price of the international currencies such as dollar and euro leads to the rise of demand of domestic tours in Russia.

ИЛИ

Tourist resources of Russia are strong potential for high-grade and high-quality

recreation of citizens, promoting a healthy lifestyle. Tourism is a powerful tool to

overcome the crisis, contributing to enhancing the socio- economic development of regions.

The Russian tourist industry has all the necessary resources for the active

development of almost all types of recreation and has a portfolio of over 12 thousand

hotels, 477 historic cities, more than 144 thousand monuments of history and culture.

The tourist activity is under reform and development in Russia nowadays.

Existing tourism resources are not fully utilized, but the dynamics of Russian travel

market shows an upward trend in the number of tourists in general, and foreign - in

particular. Analysis of the current state of tourism in the Russian Federation shows that

in recent years this sector as a whole is developing steadily and rapidly. It is noted the

annual growth domestic tourist traffic. Rapidly growing demand for tourist services in

the country has caused a boom of construction of small hotels, mainly in the resort

areas, as well as an increase in the number of international hotel chains hotels in

Moscow, St. Petersburg and other major cities, the creation of national hotel chains.

There is increased amount of investment proposals for hotel development on the part of

foreign as well as from domestic investors.

4. Describe inbound tourism in RF nowadays.

Slightly more than 25 million of foreign tourists will visit Russia along the year

2013. Although the international tourism in Russia is still starting, the enormous

possibilities which opening Russia as a tourism destination are great, giving the

fabulous amounts of resources it presents (history, nature, architecture, etc.).

But there are some disadvantages, such as:

  • the high cost of tours in Russia ;

  • lack of modern tourist class hotels ;

  • lack of advertising tourism opportunities Russia abroad;

  • lack of modern tourist buses, cruise ships and other vehicles ;

  • the need for registration upon arrival to Russia and the procedure of

  • tourist visas;

  • lack of development (in most parts) of the country's transport

  • infrastructure (poor quality of roads and roadside maintenance level, the

  • state of the airports, etc.).

International inbound flows basically come from neighbouring countries, mainly former Soviet states, as well as other EU nearby countries (Poland, Germany, and Finland). Main destinations are those of capital cities in the country, such as Moscow and St. Petersburg, which receive the bulk of visits
