Discussing Packing

Some engineers from the Belarus Trade Delegation saw tools of a British company at an Industrial Exhibition in London.

They were impressed by the fact that the quality of the tools was very high and the finish was extremely good. The engineers decided to buy them.

Some time later the British company sent an offer to the Belarus Trade Delegation. After Krylov had studied the offer he phoned Mr. Stanley to clarify some details.

Krylov: Good morning. I’d like to speak to Mr. Stanley.

Stanley: Good morning, Mr. Krylov. Very glad to hear you. Is there anything I can do for you?

Krylov: We’ve just received an offer from your company. We don’t feel very happy about the kind of packing you are going to use.

Stanley: Well, what’s wrong with it?

Krylov: You propose to wrap up the tools in polythene and then put them in wooden crates.

Stanley: That’s right.

Krylov: You see, we’d like the tools to be put into containers. Can the tools be packed in accordance with our requirements?

Stanley: The kind of packing we propose to use is our standard practice for shipment. It insures safe delivery of the goods. Our customers find it quite satisfactory. Anyway, we’d like to do our best for your company. I’ll look into the matter with our people and call back first thing tomorrow morning.

Krylov: Thank you. Good buy.
