My studying at Izhevsk State Technical University

Nowadays there are many higher educational institutions in Tyumen. But the most popular one is Izhevsk State Technical University. Our University was founded on the first of January, 1953 by the order of Stalin

There are 15 faculties in our University. They are: the Faculty of Philology, Law, Psychology, History, Physical Culture and Sport and so on. As I am a first year student of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sport I would like to tell you a few words about my faculty. It was founded in 1990. Our students get knowledge in physical culture, anatomy, chemistry, physiology, psychology, foreign languages and so on. Our faculty has 4 gyms, many classrooms, a swimming pool, a library.

There are 3 departments at the University: a day-time department, a correspondence department and a post-graduate department.

Our University has some traditions such as the Days of the faculty, Art Festival "Students Spring" and so on. Every year the University organizes Students Scientific Conference and the students take an active part in the work of the Conference. They have an opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge they get at the University and to win some awards.

The course of studies lasts 5 years. The academic year begins on the first of September and ends in June. The academic year is divided into 2 terms. At the end of each term the students take tests and exams and after that they have holidays.

The students who make good progress in studies get a monthly scholarship. During the term students have to attend lectures, classes and seminars. In case of having some problems students may go to the Dean and solve them. As a rule the students are divided into groups consisting of 25 people. At the beginning of the academic year the Dean of the faculty appoints heads of the groups who are called monitors. They are in charge of studies, attendance of classes and discipline in the group.

The University students have at their disposal all necessary facilities: well-equipped laboratories, a large new library, museums, gyms, snack-bars and canteens.

Our country requires more and more specialists with higher education. The main task of our University is to prepare young specialists for schools, institutions, industry and science.

Parents hated sending their children to school because it meant the children couldn't go out to work. In 1870 school cost a penny a day. In 1891 education became free.
