Learning Foreign Languages

1. Today English is the language of the world.

2. It is the language of science and technology, trade and cultural relations, commerce and business,

3. It is the universal language of international aviation ,shipping and sport.

4. It is also the major language of diplomacy.

5. Hundreds of books, magazines and newspapers are printed in English.

6. It is the official language of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, of the United States of America, of Australia and New Zealand.

7. In our country English is very popular.

8. It is studied at schools, colleges and universities.

9. When we learn English we learn much about English-speaking countries.

10. We learn facts about their history, culture, present time

11. There are many ways of learning foreign languages.

12. Our school is the only one with advanced learning of foreign languages.

13. At the lessons the pupils read, speak and write.

14. I must say that it is not easy to learn a foreign language.

15. To understand the text we must know many words.

16. It takes much time to learn grammar and do exercises.

17. We often listen to cassettes and watch films in English that helps us to learn English.

18. Many people visit England, Canada, the USA in order to train English.

19. As for me I like English and I want to know it better.

20. I think that English will help me in my future profession.

2. London stands on the river Thames.

3. A lot of tourists visit London every day.

4. You can visit museums, art galleries the sights of London.

5. The most famous sights are; The Buckingham Palace, Westminster, the Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedra, the Museum of Madame Tussaud’s., parks and squares.

6. It’s impossible to tell about all of them.

7. I would like to tell about some (one)of them.

8. Buckingham Palace is the centre of the Royal power.

9. It was built in 1703 by the Duke of Buckingham.

10. King George III bought the palace in 1761.

11. It is now the official home of Queen Elizabeth and the British Royal Family.

12. There are nearly 6 hundred rooms in the Palace and three miles of red carpets.

13. Buckingham Palace is like a small town, with a police station, two post offices, a hospital, a bar, two sport clubs, a disco, a cinema and a swimming pool.

14. Two men work full-time to look after the 300 clocks.

15. About 700 people work for the Palace.

16. The London’s top visitor’s attraction is Madame Tussaud’s Museum.

17. This wax exhibition was first opened in England in 1802.

20. The best way to get around London is to go by double-decker bus.
