Further work.

In order to make this experiment more the best way to do it is to repeat it again paying more attention to those mistakes, which I have done before. The range of the equipment used is going to be the same:

  • Ruler (100cm)

  • Piece of Nickel Chrome wire 60cm long (this particular type of wire will be constantly used only in the real experiment)

  • Scissors

  • Battery Power Supply

  • Voltmeter

  • Ammeter

  • Crocodile clips

  • Calculator

One of the ways of how to improve accuracy and reliability of the results is to repeat the experiment 3 times and make sure the results are very accurate by taking the calculating the average resistance, and making sure the line is straight and goes through all the points, while plotting the graph. This would make sure the resistance in the wire is definitely proportional to the length. Making sure the equipment works properly, and paying more attention while taking the readings would also make the results more accurate. I think that even though this wouldn’t make the results perfectly scientifically correct, this would avoid the anomalies occurred in the first experiment and make results and graph a little bit more accurate. However, I still think that for the measuring of other factors, such as: dimensions, thermal properties of the material used, the surface, frequency and magnitude of the current, we wouldn’t have enough time and resources in the school.

Overall, I think my experiment was quite successful. Although the there were some anomalies and negative sites in the experiment, it was relatively accurate. The results were quite accurate as well, and so they proved that my prediction was right and they also helped to reach the target of this experiment, to investigate how the length affects the resistance in the wire. I’ve made some further work, which would hopefully improve my experiment and make it even more successful. If we don’t take in the account some of the anomalies occurred, my prediction was proved by experimentation, and therefore I can say, that as the length of the wire increases, the resistance in the wire increases, so the length affects the resistance in the wire, by increasing it and making it more resistant.
