Работая по «Учебнику английского языка» под редакцией В.Д. Аракина, мы постоянно испытывали недостаток лексико-грамматического материала, который обучаемым необходимо усвоить по программе I курса специального факультета.
Настоящее учебное пособие является приложением к вышеназванному учебнику, а также одним из компонентов УМК наряду с учебными пособиями «Учись проявлять инициативу в речи» (2000 г.) и «Сборник лабораторных работ по практическому курсу английского языка» (2003 г.).
Предлагаемый сборник – это практическое пособие, представляющее собой поурочную разработку, состоящую из 10 уроков-разделов (по 5 уроков в каждой из двух частей пособия, предназначенных для первых двух семестров обучения в вузе). Каждая разработка состоит из одноязычных упражнений (на английском языке) и переводных (с русского на английский), которые составляют большинство.
Порядок расположения языкового материала соответствует последовательности его изучения. Материал практикума расположен по принципу постепенного нарастания его сложности и трудностей для обучаемых.
Последовательность упражнений определяется также другим важным методическим правилом: новые грамматические структуры закрепляются на знакомой, уже в определенной степени заавтоматизированной в устной речи лексике, и наоборот – новая лексика – на грамматическом материале, затренированном в определенной степени в предыдущих упражнениях изучаемого урока. Такая организация языкового материала позволяет, во-первых, облегчить обучающимся процесс его усвоения и, во-вторых, повторить, упрочить ранее усвоенный языковой материал.
Сразу после введения нового языкового материала предлагаются одноязычные (на английском языке) упражнения аналитического характера, затем – тренировочные языковые и условно-речевые упражнения, направленные на выработку у обучаемых речевых навыков, затем – упражнения в переводе на английский язык.
Лексически направленные одноязычные упражнения, такие как «Заполните пропуски в предложениях нужными словами из заданного списка слов», «Добавьте (вставьте) недостающие слова в предложения» и другие, а также грамматически направленные упражнения в выборе и употреблении артиклей, предлогов, прилагательных и наречий и их степеней сравнения, глаголов в нужном глагольном времени, неопределенных местоимений и др. формируют у обучаемых механизм выбора слов и грамматических структур адекватно предлагаемым ситуациям общения, что является главным компонентом любого речевого навыка.
Упражнения на повторение и систематизацию усвоенного материала, так называемые “Revision Exercises”, носят комплексный (лексико-грамматические упражнения), иногда межтемный характер и расположены в конце каждого урока.
