Omsk is the Old Russian town, was founded in 1716 a group of Russian soldiers and Cossacks under guidance of an officers Buhgolts. Their has Pyotr First in Siberian in quest of gold. The gold have not found, but have founded wooden fortress, which later became Omsk. Omsk is situated on the banks of the Irtish and Om rivers. Omsk is a large industrial, scientific and cultural centre of Siberia. Types to industry: chemical, machine-building and oil refinery. In Omsk many Universities, technical, schools and libraries. The Pushkin library is the biggest of them. The best-known theatres in Omsk are the Drama theatre, the Musical theatres, Children theatre. With Omsk are bound name many famous people: Dostoevsky, Vrubel, Karbyshev, Kalchak and other.
