Today I’ll tell you about Alstom company. First of all some basic information about the company. Then, I’ll talk about company’s business. Finally, you’ll know about company’s future plans (слияние с сименсом)

The company was founded from a merger between two French companies 91 years ago in 1928. Today it is located in Saint-Ouen, France. Nowadays the company is a multinational corporation with a workforce of 34,500 people in more than 90 countries. CEO of Alstom company in Henri Lafarge.

Alstom is a French multinational company operating worldwide in rail transport markets, active in the fields of passenger transportation, signalling and locomotives, with products including high-speed trains, in addition to suburban, regional and metro trains, and trams.

Up to November 2015 Alstom operated in three main business areas: Power generation, rail transport, and power transmission. Following the sale of the company's power and transmission business to General Electric the remainder of the business was entirely focused on rail transport.

Alstom provides high speed trains like AGV, TGV, Pendolino to many European counties. For example, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Finland, even to Russia. You may know Allegro train, which runs from Saint-Petersburg to Helsinki.

The company also produces Citadis trams; as of 2017, over 2,300 Citadis trams have been sold all over the world. More than 1,800 trams are in use by 28 cities including Dublin, Barcelona, Melbourne, Rotterdam and Paris.

The Alstom company have an revenue approximately 8 bln Euros. Last year net income was about 0.5 bln Euros.

At the end a few words about the company’s future. 2 years ago Alstom announced a proposed merger with Siemens which should have ended in the end of 2018, at which point the company would be called Siemens-Alstom.

On the 3rd of April, 2007 TGV set a new world rail speed record reaching 574.8 kpmh
