Studying

at the University of Turku

Eligibility

An exchange student is anyone who comes to study at the University of Turku through an exchange programme such as ERASMUS, FIRST, NORDPLUS, ISEP, North2North, North-South- South, Erasmus Mundus or a bilateral agreementbetweenthehostandthehome institutions.

FulbrightandCIMOScholarshipholders are also granted exchange student status. In addition, exchange students need to be nominated by their home university to the University of Turku.

In most cases, the basic requirement for an exchange period is that the applicant is a registered student at an institution of higher education abroad. Some programmes require 2–3 years of studies in the field. All programmes require

familiarity with the basic concepts of the disciplines in question. Please note, that each programme

has also specific prerequisites which are listed in the programme descriptions. Participants in the programmes taught in English should have a good knowledge of the language. Applicants who do not have English as their native language have to provide documentation of their knowledge of English when applying.

The University of Turku application form for exchange students is electronic and must be filled in carefully at www. utu.fi/en/studying/exchange-students/ apply/

Students coming to the University of Turku through Erasmus Mundus, North2NorthorISEPprogrammesshould follow the application procedure of the exchange programme they are participating in.

Learning Agreement (or a study plan, includes the courses you wish to take during your exchange period)ispartoftheApplication Form. Therefore before filling theapplicationform,youshould select carefully what you would like to study in Turku.

Enclosures for the application:

1.Transcript of Records (list of courses you have completed at your home university)

2.Language Assessment Sheet or other proof of your language skills (for non-native speakers, iftheTranscriptofRecordsdoes

not contain the information concerning the language you plan to study in; English or Finnish)

3. Please check with the international coordinator at your home university that they have sent the University of Turku a nomination/officialletterofconfirmation that you are an exchange student nominated by your home university.

All exchange students should send their enclosures to the International Office: International Office, University of Turku, FI–20014 TURKU, Finland. Erasmus students can also choose to send the enclosures as e-mail attachment to international@utu.fi

The application will not be processed before all the required enclosures have been submitted. Late or incomplete applications will be rejected.

Application procedure

It takes a minimum of 3 weeks to process an application after the deadline (see the box above). All completed applications received by the deadline in April/May will be processed in May/June. The students are notified by June/July. Completed applications for the Spring Semester received by the deadline are processed in October/ November,andstudents arenotified

in December the latest.

Our deadlines cannot be extended. It is extremely important that the applications arrive by the deadline and are complete so that they can be

processed on time.

Applicants should note that the personnel is on holiday in July and the International Office is usually closed during the holiday season.

Once a student has been accepted, the Certificate of Admission is sent directly to the student unless otherwise agreed. The certificate is sent together

with an Information.

Гранты 2012-2013 на ознакомительные поездки

студенческих групп в Германию

Германская служба академических обменов (DAAD) предоставляет гранты для проведения ознакомительных поездок в Германию студенческих групп.

Проведение ознакомительных поездок групп возможно с 1 сентября 2012 по 28 февраля 2013.

Цельюознакомительныхпоездокявляется проведение встреч с немецкими студентами и учеными, установление контактов с вузами, организациями и учреждениями, представляющими интерес с профессиональной точки зрения, а также получение страноведческих знаний о Германии.

Внимание!

Страноведческая часть программы пребывания группы не должна составлять более одной трети запланированной продолжительности поездки!

Длительность поездки, включая день приезда группы в Германию и день отъезда группы из Германии, не может превышать 7 - 12 дней.

Целевая группа: Студенты 3-го, 4-го, 5-го и 6-го курсов всех специальностей под руководством одного преподавателя, который будет сопровождать группу. Численность группы, не считая преподавателя, составляет т min. 10 до max. 15 участников. По договоренности с DAAD в состав группы

могут быть включены не более двух аспирантов.

Application procedure

There are two independent application deadlines for the academic year 2013/2014 (program start October 2013). Most fellowships are allocated in the first application round. The first application period lasts from December 1st, 2012 to January 31st, 2013. During these two months applications for the first deadline will be received. The second deadline is 30 April 2013. The application process consists of the application package and a personal interview with the shortlisted candidates.
