Введение
Данный практикум представляет материал, который состоит из текстов, организованных по тематическому принципу, и предназначен для студентов неязыковых факультетов.
Он содержит материал, направленный на развитие умений монологической и диалогической речи. Весь материал подобран с учётом требований типовой программы по иностранному языку для студентов неязыковых факультетов.
Материал разбит по темам. В начале каждого текста даётся тематический словарь, на который следует обратить внимание и который поможет в дальнейшей работе. Только после этого можно приступать к работе с текстами.
Каждая глава включает несколько текстов разных уровней. Тексты отличаются новизной информации, активной современной лексикой. Из того количества текстов, которые предлагаются к каждой теме, преподаватель может выбрать те, которые соответствуют профилю факультета, или же те, которые соответствуют уровню студентов в той или иной группе. Главы содержат также дополнительные тексты для чтения и обсуждения. Эти тексты могут быть использованы как учебный материал для чтения на занятиях в аудитории, а также при подготовке к занятиям дома.
После текстов даются упражнения, помогающие проверить понимание текста, а также способствующие формированию умений устной речи. Таким образом, тематический практикум делится на 10 частей:

Oleg lives in Belarus. He is Belarusian. He comes from the town of Retchitsa, Gomel region. He lives in Chapaev street. He finished school № 2 in 2005. His favourite subject at school was mathematics. That’s why he entered Mozyr State Pedagogical University, Physics and Mathematics faculty. Now he is a first-year student.
In appearance he looks impressive: 180 cm. tall, well-built and strong. He has an oval face, a straight nose, blue eyes and an attractive smile. So people find him good-looking and even handsome.
Oleg is particular known for his warm and friendly character. He is an active and energetic person. He is open-minded and has got a great sense of humour. He never looks moody.
In general Oleg is an interesting person. He is well-read. He likes reading fiction and books on history. He is fond of modern and classic music and computers. He is keen on sports. He goes in for cycling and football. His hobby is kung fu. He also likes travelling, exploring new places, countries and their sights. Oleg likes animals and he spends a lot of time walking with his 2 dogs: a sheep-dog and a dachshund. It looks amusing and people always pay attention to them.
Oleg is single and he is not going to marry yet. Though he has a girl-friend. People enjoy spending time with him.
