In addition, it was reported that Google will, at its discretion, remove applications on phones users if developers violated their terms of use.

The disadvantages of the platform can also include the inability to install applications on the memory card. This gap is a significant development, especially if there is a small amount of internal phone memory (for example, T-Mobile G1, has only 70 MB).

Google Android is set not only for smartphones; this platform is suitable for netbooks. For example, Android is already on a number of models of Asus EE PC, and ported to netbooks from MSI, Dell and Acer. A number of other manufacturers of netbooks announced the imminent release of devices based on the mobile platform from Google.

Analysts and experts of the IT market projected good commercial prospects for Google Android, but for products based on open source software is no longer a sensation. They are gradually taking over the IT space, replacing it with the recognized leaders, creating competition, which in itself can only have a positive impact on the recovery of the market.[1]

    1. Description of the main mobile platforms

The presence of the operating system (OS) is the main feature that distinguishes the smartphone from a regular mobile phone. All smartphones come with a preinstalled default OS. When choosing a particular model or smartphone device OS is often the determining factor.

The most common operating systems and platforms for smartphones:

Symbian OS - occupies a large part of the OS market for smartphones. At the beginning of 2010 on the basis of the OS there's only one platform: Series 60, which is primarily used in the Nokia devices, as well as some models of Samsung.

BlackBerry OS (RIM) - the device on this system is widely used mainly in the U.S., as the intelligence services of some countries are not interested in the use of smartphones in the country due to the fact that all incoming / outgoing data is encrypted using AES.

Windows Mobile and Windows CE - compact operating system with Microsoft, launched in 1996 and occupies a large segment of the smartphone OS market.

Windows Phone - a series of proprietary mobile operating systems developed by Microsoft, and is the successor to its Windows Mobileplatform, although incompatible with it. Unlike its predecessor, it is primarily aimed at the consumer market rather than the enterprisemarket. It was first launched in October 2010, with a release in Asia following in early 2011

Android - a platform for smart phones, open source, developed by OHA (group of companies led by Google). The platform is based on Linux.

Linux - not widely used, but have traditionally been considered a promising direction. Smartphones based on Linux distributed mainly in Asia.

Bada - the latest mobile platform developed by Samsung. The first phone on the new platform was S8500 Wave.

iOS (until June 24, 2010 - iPhone OS) is a mobile operating system, developed and manufactured by the American company Apple. IOS was released in 2007, initially - for the iPhone and iPod touch, later - for devices such as the iPad and Apple TV. In contrast to Windows Phone and Google Android it is available only for devices manufactured by Apple.[2]

Currently, Android is developing exponentially every year and the number of users of this operating system has been steadily growing. You can look at Table 1. The boundaries of mobile devices in the life of mankind are constantly expanding, there are entirely new types of applications and the use of telecommunications technology is even spreading to household appliances.[3]
