I am a second year student of Moscow State Industrial University. The University has various forms of studies: full-time, part-time and distant education. I am a part-time student at the department of economics. I work in a company as a sales-manager so I have to combine my work and studies. I am doing a course on economics.

Economics is a social science studying economy. Economics also covers many special fields such as accounting, management, banking, marketing and programming.

There are some programs of cooperation between colleges, universities, academies, and enterprises or plants. They help students not only to get a proper training but to work successfully as a member of a team. The programs also provide work experience for students and teachers. These programs have to:

• Create students’ economic background;

• Create a wider understanding of industry, business and management;

• Develop understanding of small business and its management systems;

• Open gateway to better career planning.

There is a potential for developing such skills as communication, presentation, negotiations, problem solving and information technology competence. Internet helps students to keep up with news in business and economics, it optimizes education at any level. Knowing a foreign language, for example English, is a must for professional candidates who want to work at joint ventures or some foreign companies.

The graduates of our University try to know better how economics works, what effects it has on our lives and society. They will be able to use the new economist activities effectively. When I graduate from the University I’ll become an economics or a specialist in accounting or management. I hope to learn new skills and to adapt to changing technology. I am planning to work for a company or start my own business.
