Talk about a visitor’s impressions of an old country inn

To begin with, I’d like to mention the nice words from the story “The night in a quiet country inn”: “The world was created only last night and this is the first day of the existence. How nice to be alive!”. In my opinion every person has a place on the earth when he or she can have a rest, can stay alone with his thoughts and can analyze the events from his life. I think that all of us need to spend at least one day in such a place.

The author of the story “The night in a quiet country inn” was lucky to find such a place. To tell the truth, my first impression of this inn was different. At first I thought that it was an ordinary building, for example such as summer cottage or even an old cottage in a small village, but then I realized how unusual that place was. It is an ancient building which still remembered the days of the first Queen Elizabeth. And I absolutely agree with the author that it is a majestic place. When he saw these peaceful surroundings he wanted to stay at this place as soon as possible. It is the mysterious and romantic place history of which connect with interesting stories and secrets of the past. So, one of the stories says that many years ago soldiers intrude into the inn in the middle of the night, and Prince Charles, who was staying at one of the rooms, had to squeeze through the tiny window in the dark and hide under the bridge. I think, anyone would spend a night in the room of Prince Charles with pleasure.

At first the author didn’t like the inn, as it seemed to be gloomy, and besides, his room was very cold and stuffy, the window refused to open, and the water was icy cold and run away very slowly. Moreover there was no coat-hangers and a towel.

But on the contrary hosts greeted him warmly and after his complaints bring him a towel, coat-hangers and repaired the window. Eventually, he was quite satisfied with everything: the meal was excellent and he enjoyed being with two cats in a cosy warm lounge. The fire in the fireplace roasted his legs, the cats purred, and the clock in the hall ticked slowly as it must have been ticking for a hundred years. With his thoughts the author fell asleep. The next morning the dining-room was gloriously warm and the breakfast was the best he had ever had. Everything there was like in his dreams, so he wanted to find his way back there one day.

As for me, I like this country in and wouldn’t mind visiting it, but only in summer when flowers are in blossom and birds sings on the trees.

Describe an old English country inn

Let’s have a look at the country inn. It is located in peaceful surroundings, among elm-trees, not far from an old arched bridge built during the wars of the Roses, and whitewashed thatched cottages. It is a two-storey inn which still remembered the days of the 1^st Queen Elizabeth. It goes without saying that it hasn’t been changed for the past five hundred years. Probably, at first sight one can think that there’s nothing out of the ordinary in this building, but it has a long interesting history.

The design of this building is marvelous: with low beamed ceilings, grandfather clocks, old wardrobes and such sort of things. The small windows overlook the green hills, and the river flows just below. Everything is spotlessly clean, but it is rather stuffy inside and the water is icy cold.

The hostess is a pleasant woman who does her best to make the tenants’ staying more comfortable. An excellent dinner and a cosy chair in front of the fireplace is just what one needs to relax after a working day. When you get up in the morning you can see a wonderful picture: all the grass is covered with small diamonds that shine at the sun. And finally, after you have a tasty breakfast in a warm dining-room, you’ll understand that this country inn is the place that you’ve been looking for many years. So you wondered why the name of that inn isn’t been included in hotel guide and with all your thoughts try to find your way back there one fine day.
