Talk about nationality traits as seen by the English, Scottish, Welsh, and Irish

The four part of the United Kingdom represent four different nations with their own traditions, peoples and habits. It not a secret that the difference is mainly reflected in the languages they speak, in economic, social, and cultural systems. Despite the fact that people live in one country, but they are various. And the attitudes to their nations is different too.

Traditionally the English are thought to be reserved. They don’t tend to show much emotion, as they believe it’s better to bottle up their feelings. As far as I know they’re a rather conservative. But nevertheless, the Englishmen are very hardworking, responsible and honest.

The Scottish people are quite different from the English. They are much more outgoing, talkative and they love chatting, especially the country people. They have a reputation of being rather thrifty, but despite the fact they are very generous, hospitable and they always welcome visitors with open arms. Moreover they have natural sense of humor and strong sense of their values and traditions.

As for the Welsh, they are famous for their wonderful voices and charming songs. That is why Wales is known as “The land of songs”. Also Wales has a great tradition of poets and poetry. As far as I know, they’re cheerful and kind-hearted to everyone, and like The Scotts are very hospitable.

The Irish have lots of good music too. Moreover they famous for their Irish dances. As far as I remember you keep your body and arms straight and still and leap about on your feet. As a matter of fact they are known to be great dreamers, they’re broad-minded and amusing. But at times they can be argumentative and rather stubborn. They are obviously good mixers and very good-mannered.

In conclusion I’d like to say that all the British people have a common sense, they are practical and realistic, generous and very sensible.

Talk about the house rules for lodgers in Britain

As you see I’m a first-year student and from my own experience I can say that it is quite a problem for students who come from another place to find a place to live in. It’s a fact that a tenant looks for a good landlord, and a landlord looks for a good tenant.

There can be no doubt, that students in Belarus as well as in Britain, who rent a room from another person have to keep to houserules. And very often they face serious problems if they don’t want to follow the rules.

At first, they’ll have to put up with numerous inconveniences despite the high rent they’re expected to pay monthly. For example, some lodgers say they’re allowed to use the bathroom and kitchen only at certain hours, which very unpleasant. Secondly, you may not be allowed to keep pets in the house because the owner is allergic to them. As a rule, nosy parties are out of the question, and moreover usually it isn’t allowed to invite friends after 10 o’clock. Putting posters with your favorite singers or actors is also undesirable, so you can’t make yourself feel like home. Everything is limited for lodgers; they have little privacy, and I think hardly anyone can enjoy studying in such conditions.

On the other hand, a person will put up with any rules and conditions if he or she really wants to have a roof over one’s head.
