Select the domains where you want to add an out-of-plane surface-to-ambient heat transfer contribution.

U P S I D E P A R A M E T E R S

The default Surface emissivity eu, a unitless number between 0 and 1, is taken From material. Select User defined to enter another value. An emissivity of 0 means that the surface emits no radiation at all while a emissivity of 1 means that it is a perfect blackbody.

Enter an Ambient temperature Tamb,u (SI unit: K). The default is 293.15 K.

Follow the instructions for the Upside Parameters for the downside parameters ed and

Out-of-Plane Heat Flux

Select the Out-of-plane heat transfer check box on the Heat Transfer

1D

interface to add this feature to 1D and 2D models.

The Out-of-Plane Heat Flux feature adds a heat flux q0,u as an upside heat flux and a heat flux q0,d as a downward heat flux to the right hand side of Equation 13-7 or Equation 13-8:
