Creating Interactive Fighting Character
Objective: This tutorial will teach you how to make a fighting character.
1. Launch "T4-character.swf" to have a preview of what can be accomplished from this tutorial.
2. Run Macromedia MX, create a new file and save as "T4-Fighting.fla".
3. Point to 1st frame of layer 1 in Timeline. Draw a character as shown below:
4. Press "v" on the keyboard (select move tool) and highlight the character you have created. Convert him to Movie Clip (name as "boy") by pressing F8. Give this "boy" movie clip an instance name "boy".
5. Point to this “boy” movie clip, press F9 and type the following code:
6. Press F9 again to close this action dialog box.
7. Point to the “boy” character, double click and get into "boy" movie clip. In this stage, select the character again and turn it to another movie clip. Name this movie clip as "walking".
8. Point to this "walking" movie clip, press F9 and type the following scripts.
Double click this "walking" movie clip. Inside this movie clip create two more keyframes. Draw two characters as shown below in the two keyframes respectively.

10. In the 2nd frame, press F9 and type the following code:
Press F9 again to close this dialog box.
11. Go back to main stage. Point to the "boy" character and double click to get into the "boy" movie clip again.
12. Press F6 to create another keyframe.
13. Go to 2nd keyFrame and point to the "walking" movie clip. Right click and from the menu, choose “duplicate symbol” and rename him as "Punching".
14. Point to this "punching" movie clip, press F9 and type the following scripts:
Press F9 again to close this dialog box.
15. Double click this "punching" movie clip. Inside this movie clip create five keyframes and draw five characters as shown below:

16. In the 5th frame, press F9 and type the following code:
Press F9 again to close this dialog box.
17. Return to main stage. Then point to the "boy" movie clip and double click to get into "boy" movie clip.
18. Press F6 to create the 3rd keyframe.
19. Go to 3rd keyframe and point to the movie clip. Right click and from the menu, choose duplicate symbol to rename him as "kicking".
20. Point to this "kicking" movie clip, press F9 and type the following code:
Press F9 again to close this dialog box.
21. Double click this "kicking" movie clip. Inside this movie clip create five keyframes (press F9) and draw five characters as shown below:

22. In the 5th frame, press F9 and type the following code:
Press F9 again to close this dialog box.
23. Ctrl + Enter to play the movie. In this movie clip, you now can press "Ctrl" to punch, press "Shift" to kick and press “arrow keys” for movement.
24. To enhance the animation, you may create one new layer as background and import the graphic as shown below:
