SECTION 4. ENQUIRIES
BLOCK 1. ENQUIRY-1
LEAD-IN
What is an enquiry?
What should you write in an enquiry if you are going to buy some goods?
Is an enquiry for goods different from an enquiry about new price-lists?
Read the following text and comment on the main points.

FOCUS 2. COMMENTARY AND VOCABULARY NOTES
COMMENTARY 1. See ENQUIRY 2
....”in the July edition of “Furniture & Office”....
При этом, если артикль входит в название периодического издания, то артикль пишется с большой буквы, например: the June issue of “The Economist”, но если артикль не является частью названия, то он выносится за кавычки (или курсив), например: in the “Financial Times”.
COMMENTARY 2. See ENQUIRY 2
.... “a quantity discount off list prices”...
cash discount - cкидка за платеж наличными - предоставляется покупателям, которые в короткие сроки оплачивают свои счета;
quantity discount - скидка за количество закупаемого товара - предоставляется покупателям, приобретающим товар в больших количества;
trade discount - торговая скидка - предлагается производятелями службам товародвижения, выполняющим определенные функции по продаже товара, его хранению, ведению учета;
trade-in allowance - товарообменный зачет - уменьшение цены нового товара при условии сдачи старого (наиболее часто применяется в сфере торговли автомобилями и другими товарами длительного пользования);
