Заключительный этап декады английского языка

23 мая 2013 года в Институте междунароного образования МГУ им. Адм. Г.И. Невельского прошел заключительный этап декады английского языка, посвященной двухсотлетию со дня рождения адмирала Г.И.Невельского.

На мероприятии присутствовала Генеральный консул Генерального консульства США во Владивостоке – госпожа Сильвия Рид Курран, которая перед началом мероприятия произнесла доклад о пользе изучения второго иностранного языка для улучшения межнационального общения, взаимопонимания и продвижения по карьерной лестнице.

Все конкурсы объявлялись и проводились на английском языке. Участники даже между собой старались изъясняться не прибегая к помощи русского.

Всего присутствовало четыре команды с разных институтов - ИЭУТ, МИИТ, ИМО, а также команда студентов лицея МГУ впервые посетила подобное мероприятие.

Наша команда называлась «Brain Boom». На обозрение жюри от нас была представлена самая яркая и красочная стенгазета из всех, выполненная с чувством стиля и цвета. Был преподнесен доклад в юмористическо-фантастическом жанре о будущем морского образования и мореходства в целом. Наша команда успешно сыграла небольшую сценку о том «Как преподаватели видят своих студентов». Менее чем за три минуты было раскрыто около пяти интересных и запоминающихся образов учеников.

Представление команд сменилось викториной на знание биографии адмирала Г.И. Невельского и истории МГУ им. адм. Г.И. Невельского. Также ведущими предлагались различные конкурсы, в том числе на проверку полноты словарного запаса. Конкурсы сменялись творческими номерами студентов, которые исполнялись на английском языке.

«Brain Boom» почти без подготовки заняла третье место, руководителем команды была Покровская Людмила Николаевна, старший преподаватель кафедры АФ. На церемонии награждения командам были вручены грамоты и шоколадно-кофейный торт, который был съеден на чаепитии следующим утром во время урока английского языка.

Maritime education in the future

I believe that the maritime education is very important in our life. The majority of people would like to travel by luxury liners, to enjoy the ocean beauty. A lot of scientific expeditions use the sea transport for theirs researches. Especially the discovery of new kinds of sea animals and plants plays a meaningful role in biology and botany. Besides, I didn’t mention about cargo transitions. Sea shipping is the most effective and the most commonly used type of cargo delivery. Due to maritime education there is a great opportunity for training good specialists. It is important for productive port activity, which helps to develop cooperation between countries of Asian-Pacific rim. Of course the maritime industry has a huge influence on the world economy.

So I thought about future of the ocean shipping. I have several versions, some of them are very fictional, may be even crazy, but I had fun imagining it.

First of all, people need to get to the areas which are difficult to reach. These districts may be full of treasures of the soil. I guess big ships and ice-breakers can help men to reach minerals, oil and others nature resources. There is still the air communication in these districts. Certainly aircrafts are faster and more comfortable, according to public opinion. We have to consider the possibility of removal the maritime industry by air industry.

After the huge flight of fancy I wrote down some other versions. For example, everyone knows about such insects as pond-skaters. Perhaps we will be able to move on the water exactly as pond-skaters do. May be we will use hydrofoil boats. Or constructors will build underwater subways. People will use these underwater tunnels for driving cars through the oceans.

Or just imagine another course of events: a lot of underwater cities can be built! In this situation maritime education will be more necessary than ever! I don’t think it will happen soon but I admit the possibility of it in the far future.

Unfortunately I’m going to mention some pessimistic versions. Probably we will pollute the Earth so much that there will be no choice but to purify water for drinking. Or ocean will dry out and we all will die. Or Nature will be really mad at humanity and apocalypse will come. It’s awful prediction but it can be.

In conclusion I want to say that the maritime education is the most important and necessary thing in development of seaports. There are a lot of variants of maritime education’s future. We must construct new ships for education. We must train good specialists. We must be ready for everything. And we must have faith in the better things.
