THIS is an inciting map of the Turbid Amazon done in Red and Black (это захватывающая карта Мутной Амазонки, выполненная в Красном и Черном). It hasn’t anything to do with the story except that there are two Armadillos in it — up by the top (у нее нет ничего общего с историей, кроме того, что на ней есть два Броненосца — в самом верху). The inciting part are the adventures (захватывающей частью являются приключения) that happened to the men who went along the road marked in red (которые произошли с людьми, которые пошли по дороге, помеченной красным). I meant to draw Armadillos (я намеревался нарисовать Броненосцев) when I began the map (когда я начал карту), and I meant to draw manatees and spider-tailed monkeys (и я намеревался нарисовать ламантинов и паукообразных обезьян) and big snakes and lots of Jaguars (и больших змей и множество Ягуаров), but it was more inciting to do the map and the venturesome adventures in red (но было более увлекательно сделать карту и опасные приключения в красном цвете). The snouty thing with the little eye (носатое существо с маленьким глазом; snout — хобот; рыло; морда /животного/) that Speckly Jaguar is trying to climb over (через которое пытается перелезть Пятнистый Ягуар) is the Armadillo (это Броненосец) that the Tortoise and the Hedgehog are going to turn into (в которого превратятся Черепаха и Еж) when they have finished bending and swimming (когда они закончат изгибаться и плавать). It is all a magic picture (это очень волшебная картинка), and that is one of the reasons (и это одна из причин того) why I haven’t drawn the Jaguar’s whiskers (почему я не нарисовал усы Ягуара). The other reason was that he was so young (другой причиной было то, что он был такой молодой) that his whiskers had not grown (что у него еще не выросли усы).
