Federal reserve conspiracy

Jim Marrs, in his book Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy, speculated that the assassination of Kennedy might have been motivated by the issuance of Executive Order 11,110. This executive order enabled the Treasury to print silver certificates, bypassing the Federal Reserve System. Executive Order 11,110 was not officially repealed until the Ronald Reagan Administration. Official explanations claim that the executive order was simply an attempt to drain the silver reserves, and did not actually endanger the careers of anyone working at the Federal Reserve.

This theory was further explored by U.S. Marine sniper and veteran police officer Craig Roberts in the 1994 book, Kill Zone. Roberts theorized that the Executive Order was the beginning of a plan by Kennedy whose ultimate goal was to permanently do away with the United States Federal Reserve, and that Kennedy was murdered by a cabal of international bankers determined to foil this plan.

Actor and author Richard Belzer has also expressed a belief in this theory. According to Belzer the plot to kill Kennedy was set in motion as a response to the President's attempt to shift power away from the Federal Reserve and to the U.S Treasury Department.

U.S. Government

This the theory described in the film by Oliver Stone.

The most probable story is that a CIA faction decided to do away with Kennedy for one of three reasons: a) that he gave away Cuba, a country on which the Agency had worked so hard and in whose struggle the renegades had become personally involved; b) to prevent him from doing the same with Vietnam; or c) as a response to a wave of firings Kennedy had ordered in the Bay of Pigs aftermath, starting with CIA director Allen Dulles (who, by the way, served on the Warren Commission), and out of fear that Kennedy was going to eviscerate the intelligence establishment for misleading him about Cuba. In response to the charge that it would be incredible that a government branch could pull off anything as efficiently as the Kennedy assassination and coverup, it should be remembered that the CIA of 1963 was an entirely different animal from what it is today. The men carrying this out were veterans of the World War II O.S.S. These same men smuggled Nazis out of Europe against incredible odds, a far cry from the modern CIA's college boy recruiters who can't deal with student protest on the Carolina campus.

The arguments Oliver Stone uses in his movie to prove this point are the following: “the war is biggest business in America worth 80 billion dollars a year”, “no war - no money, the organising principle of any society is for war... Kennedy wanted to end cold war in his second term. He wanted to call off the moon race in favour with the cooperation with the Soviets, he signed a treaty with the Soviets to ban nuclear testings”, “this basically ended the reign of the CIA - this was unprecedented”, “Kennedy was real dangerous to the establishment. The why is the question! The how and the who are just scenery for the public. Why was Kennedy killed? Who benefited? Who has the power to cover it up?”. He also highlights that media is used by the government to hide both the truth and lies: “The whole country fuelled by the media assumes he [Oswald] is guilty”. Another memorable quote from the film is “patriotism must always be ready to defend his country against his government”. “Individual human beings have to create justice and this is not easy because the truth often poses a threat to power and one always has to fight power with a great risk to themselves”.

No matter what the truth is we already can learn a lesson or two from all these theories. Not only can they help us better understand possibilities of the world around us, they also help us understand ourselves. Some of us might ask ourselves the question “what is it that gets our lives going?”. What are we motivated by when we make decisions? Are we driven by the greedy ambitions that threaten other people's well-being or are we ready to create a society where you can trust others? Oliver Stone does not ask the question “who killed the president?”. In a way, he accuses everyone who remained indifferent to the fact and warns the viewers that unless you give up greed and lust for power you will never be free and your country will not be free. A respectable and reliable cast - Gary Oldman, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland and others – certainly help him sound convincing. Though the film runs 3 hours the impression you get after it ends is that 3 hours is too little for such a grand mystery to be solved.
