The United Kingdom of Northern Ireland is situated o the British Isles. The British Isles consist of two large islands, Great Britain and Ireland, and about five thousand small islands.

The UK is made up of four countries: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Their capitals are London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast respectively.

GB consist of E, S and W and doesn't include NI. The capital of the UK is London.

The British are separated from the European continent by the North Sea and English Channel.

The surface of the BI varies very much.

There are a lot of rivers in GB, but they are not very long. The Severn is the longest river, while the Thames is the deepest and the most important one.

The mountains, the Atlantic Ocean and the warm wafers of Gulf Stream influence the climate of the BI. It is mild the whole year round.

The UK is one of the world's smaller countries. Its population is over 57 million. About 80% of the population is urban.

The UK is a highly developed industrial country. One of the chief industries of the country is shipbuilding.

The UK is a constitutional monarchy. In law Head of State is the Queen. In practice, the Queen reigns, but does not rule. The country is ruled by he elected government with the Prime Minister at the head. The British Parliament consists of two chambers: the House of Lords and the House of Commons.

There are three main political parties in Great Britain: the Labor, the Conservative and the Liberal parties. The Conservative party is the ruling party nowadays. The Prime Minister is John Major.

Pollution

Pollution is known to be the great problem to humanity. There has always been pollution even when man was not present. When man appeared upon earth, he added much to the pollution.

There are three types of pollution: air pollution, pollution of water and of the land mass.

Every smoking chimney is a source of air pollution. Some chemical processes, such as the manufacture of lime, Portland cement, steel, give off much dust. Gasoline containing lead is harmful for air, because it produces a toxic lead-bromide-chloride aerosol. Some gases are known to react with energy from sunlight to produce photochemical smog.

There are many problems to be solved concerning the pollution of air.

The worst type of water pollution is running raw sewage into near by natural. Another type of water pollution is petroleum oil. It is connected with off-shore drilling operations and oil spills.

The solid part of earth is also in danger from pollution. Solid wastes include metal cans, glass bottles and plastic containers.

The problems created by pollution are very difficult, but humanity achieved Great progress in their decision.

So, we use different devices to trap and neutralize the harmful substances, containing in gases.

Also we set up reservations to protect species of animals, birds and fishes.

Much money is spent, but it’s not enough because pollution is problem of every man.

I think people should use nature with care.
