In this lecture I have learned about non-verbal communication . Non-verbal communication is communication without words. Non-verbal communication may complement or add nuances of meaning not communicated by your verbal message. Non-verbal communication is often used to accent or emphasize some part of a verbal message.

I found out that in communicating important role wins back distance. We have personal distance. It defines your personal space. This keeps you protected and untouched by others. At social distance you conduct interpersonal business and interact at a social gathering at this social distance. Public distance protects you. At this distance you could take defensive action if threatened.

I didn't know that people of equal status maintain equal distances between themselves. Members of different cultures treat space differently. I don’t that our gender also influences our physical distance. Women generally stand closer to each other than men.

After this lecture I also learned about M-time and P-time. In M-time time is seen as being a limited resource which is constantly being used up. In D-time time is seen as renewing itself each year.

Also I found out that Attitudes toward time vary from one culture to another. For one culture is important formal time with clear boundaries. Another culture uses more informal time with no clear boundaries.
