Пособие написано в соответствии с типовой учебной программой по иностранным языкам для неязыковых вузов. Состоит из семи уроков, построенных на оригинальных технических текстах по истории развития вакуумной техники, принципам работы, классифи-кации и областям применения вакуумных насосов и компрессорного оборудования. Структура каждого урока предполагает, как изучение нового материала в аудитории под руководством преподавателя, так и для самостоятельной подготовки студентов к практическим занятиям.
Для студентов специальности 1-36 20 04 «Вакуумная и компрессорная техника», а также для всех имеющих базовые знания английской грамматики и лексики, интересующихся историей развития вакуум-ной и компрессорной техники и ее применением в современном машиностроении и электронике – аспирантов, магистрантов, студен-тов неязыковых вузов.

ПРЕДИСЛОВИЕ
Пособие подготовлено для проведения практических занятий по английскому языку со студентами инженерной специальности 1-36 20 04 «Вакуумная и компрессорная техника». Пособие ставит две цели. Первая цель – сформировать объём профессиональной лексики, необходимый для успешного знакомства с литературой по специальности. Вторая цель – ознакомить студентов с основами теории и практики использования вакуумной техники, создать мотивацию к дальнейшему изучению вакуумного инженерного искусства во взаимосвязи с другими техни-ческими науками.
Пособие состоит из семи уроков: «История развития и основные понятия вакуумной техники», «Теория физического осаждения покрытий в вакууме», «Магнетрон – история создания», «Магнетрон – функциониро-вание и применение», «Вакуумные насосы», «Компрессорные насосы», «Вакуумная техника – перспективы». Построено по следующей схеме: словарь для двух текстов, А–Б; упражнения на понимание текстов; упражнения на представление и освоение основных грамматических структур; дополнительные творческие задания для индивидуальной работы; заключительные темы для докладов и обсуждений.
Аутентичные тексты пособия направлены на развитие всех видов речевой деятельности. Работа над отдельными грамматическими струк-турами строится на консультативной основе: «преподаватель-студент», «студент-преподаватель».
Пособие включает цитатный и иллюстративный материал, профессио-нальный англо-русский словарь, который может быть использован при чтении статей по вакуумной технике, а также машиностроению, физике, электронике.
