The Possessive Case of the Noun

Ex. 8. Paraphrase the following using the Possessive Case:

the pen that belongs to Jack, the camera that belongs to my friend, the books that belong to the students, the coat that belongs to his brother, the shirt that belongs to James, the watch that belongs to my Dad, the hat that belongs to the woman, clothes that belong to the children, a college for women, an absence for three days, a rest for two days, a distance of five miles, a school for girls, a magazine for women.

Ex. 9. Replace the “of phrase” by the Possessive Case:

the pen of our teacher, the bicycle of Tom, the name of the boy, the head of the fish, the computer of George, the wedding of Jack and Mary, the office of Smith and Brown, the room of Mum and Dad, novels of Dickens, poems of Burns, the car of Jones, the house of my father-in-law, population of Canada, the voice of a man, the policy of the government, the cage of a bird, the toys of the children, parks of the city, the rays of the sun, the surface of the moon, the answer of Mary, the wealth of the nation.

Ex. 10. Replace the “of phrase” by the Possessive Case:
