My name is Ivan Petrov and I would like to tell you about My University.

I study at the Kola Branch of Petrazovodsk State University which is located in Apatity, Murmansk region. Our University was founded in 1994. The main University is situated in Petrazovodsk, but our Branch works in mostly cases independently.

Today the Kola Branch has approximately 3000 full-time students and 2000 part-time students. There are 6 faculties: the Faculty of Economics, the Humanitarian Faculty, the Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics, the Faculty of Ecology, the Faculty of Physics and Power Engineering, and the Mining Faculty. There are 25 departments, including the only ones in the Murmansk Region – the department of the North Study and the Nurse Buisness. They are training specialists in the sciences, management, finance and credit, book – keeping, history, the English language, law, sociology, computing, mining, physics, etc. Such a choice of subjects meets the needs of the region. The first lecture delivered to the freshmen students is always dedicated to the development of the Murmansk region and to that of the Far North. From their first day at the University our students come to realize that in five years they will have to apply their knowledge for the benefit of our Murmansk region and the country.

The teaching staff is considered to be the best including teachers, professors, doctors, postgraduates and academicians. All of them are very high qualified and engaged in research work at the Kola Scientific Center.

At present the University campus consists of seven academic buildings and three blocks of students’ residences. There are a lot of lecture-rooms, studies and laboratories, computer centres, libraries, assembly – halls, and canteens. The Kola Branch has a developed educational-and-laboratory base. There are more than 10 computer studies with the access to the Internet. In 2002 a centre of Internet education was opened at the Kola Branch of Petrazovodsk State University.

University teaching combines lectures given by lecturers, practical courses, tuition in small groups and seminars. The course of studies runs 4 or 5 years.

The highest ruling body is the University Academic Board considering all the principal questions of University life. Its meetings take place every month. The Academic Board consists of the Rector, Vice – Rectors, Deans of the Faculties, Heads of the Departments and representatives of the Trade Union organization.

During all these years more than 6,000 students of part-time and students of day-time tuition graduated the University.

Я учусь в Кольский филиале Петрозаводского государственного университета, который находится в г. Апатиты, Мурманской области. Наш университет был основан в 1994 году. Основной университет находится в Петрозаводске, но наши отделения работает в основном случаев самостоятельно.

Сегодня Кольский филиал насчитывает около 3000 студентов дневной формы обучения и 2000 студентов-заочников. Есть 6 факультетов: экономический факультет, гуманитарный факультет, факультет информатики и прикладной математики, факультет экологии, факультет физики и энергетики, а также горный факультет. Есть 25 отдела, в том числе единственные в Мурманской области - отдел Северного Анализа и сестра бизнеса. Они подготавливают специалистов в области науки, менеджмент, финансы и кредит, книги - хранение, истории, английскому языку, праву, социологии, вычислительной техники, горнодобывающей промышленности, физике и т.д. Такой выбор предметов отвечает потребностям региона. Первая лекция первокурсникам, всегда посвящается развитию Мурманской области и Крайнему Северу. В первый день, в университете студенты осознали, что через пять лет они должны будут применить свои знания на благо нашей Мурманской области и страны.

Преподавательский состав, считается лучшим в том числе учителя, профессора, доктора, аспиранты и ученые. Все они очень высококвалифицированные и принимали участие в научно-исследовательской работе в Кольском научном центре.

В настоящее время университетский корпус состоит из семи учебных корпусов и из трех кварталах жилых домов студентов. Есть много аудиторные, кабинеты и лаборатории, компьютерные центры, библиотеки, сборка - залов и столовых. Кольский филиал имеет развитую учебно-лабораторную базу. Есть более чем 10 компьютерных исследований с доступом к Интернету. В 2002 году была открыта Кольским филиалом Петрозаводского государственного университета Центр Интернет - образования.

Университет обучения сочетает в себе лекции преподавателей, практические занятия, обучение в малых группах и семинарах. Курс обучения проходит 4 или 5 лет.

Высокий руководящий орган является Университетским Советом Академический учитывая все основные вопросы жизни университета. Его заседания проводятся раз в месяц. Ученый совет состоит из ректора, вице - ректоров, деканов факультетов, заведующих кафедрами и представители профсоюзной организации.

За все эти годы более 6000 студентов заочной и дневной формы обучения окончили университет.
