8. Ways of traveling

One can travel by air, by rail, by sea or by road. Those, who wish to travel, either for pleasure or on business, have at their disposal various means of transport, for instance, bicycles, motorcycles, motor-cars, boats, ships, helicopters and others.

If you need to get any place of the world in a short time, you should choose plane.

Travelling by air is the fastest and the most convenient way of travelling, but it is the most expensive one. Most people prefer travelling by train, as it is cheaper and more convenient.

Travelling by train is slower than by plain, but it has its advantages. You can see much more interesting places of the country you are travelling through. Modern trains have very comfortable seats.

There are also sleeping cars and dining cars, which make even the longest journey enjoyable. Everyone knows the speed of sea liners is much slower than that of plains, but on board of ship there are all facilities to enjoy your trip: tennis and badminton grounds, swimming pools, cinema and dancing hall.

LEISURE TOURISM is a type of tourism when a person goes on holiday, the purpose is recreation. Leisure travelers look for sun, sea and sand. In all resort hotel there are always swimming-pools, fitting-centers, tennis courts, discos. A resort hotel offers its customers concerts, shows, animation programs for children. Usually it offers tours and visits to different tourist attractions. Holiday-makers normally travel with their families and children.

SPORTS TOURISM is a type of active holiday. The purpose is to exercise and to keep physically fit. Sports tourism is popular during all year. Travelers enjoy natural surroundings, fresh air and clean water. They combine action and relaxation during a sporting holiday.

Tourist companies offer hiking, cycling, boating, rafting and other kinds of sporting tours.

BUSINESS TOURISM is a travel for business purposes. Tourist companies provide business services; those are fax and telephone communications, secretarial services, answering service.

Business travel will develop faster than other types of tourism in future. There will be more business tourists and more tourist companies which will deal with business tourism.

INCENTIVE TOURISM means that a business company offers holiday tours to its employees and covers all travel expenses. The company does it as a bonus to a person for his successful work and company hopes that the employee will work even better in future and bring profit to the company.

FAMILIARIZATION TOURISM is often called just FAM tourism. It means that a business company sends its staff on educational tours. The main purpose of travel clerks on a FAM tour is to get necessary knowledge from experience. When the clerks return home, they will know what to offer and what to explain to their customers about the destination.
