My Future Profession (Doctor). Моя будущая профессия (Врач).

There are many interesting and noble professions. I want to be a doctor. It is an interesting profession.

I understand that it is necessary to study a lot to become a doctor. I also understand that this profession requires great responsibility because it deals with the most precious thing that a person has — with his health.

My mother and my grandfather are doctors. My grandfather is working as a surgeon in a hospital. I have been several times at the hospital and spent some time watching him working.

His main task is to operate on the people. After each operation he takes care of patients until they are recovered.

He listens very attentively to what his patients tell him. He is always kind and attentive to his patients. They feel it and believe him, and it makes his work easier. I know that he wants to see all his patients able — bodied and I notice that he is happy when his patient is recovered.

My grandfather can also help if somebody catches a cold or has a fever. My grandfather told me a lot of true stories about doctors and their profession.

I love and respect my grandfather and want to become a doctor as well.

My Attitude to the Profession of a Teacher. Мое отношение к профессии учителя.

The profession of a teacher is a very noble one. A teacher is a very important person for every family, where the schoolchildren live.

I remember my first teacher very well. Her name was Natalia Victorovna. She was a kind woman and paid much attention to us all. She taught us to read and write, told us many interesting things about everything and she instructed us how to work. When we became fifth-formers we had one form-teacher and many other teachers in all school subjects.

My form-teacher’s name is Anna Ivanovna. She pays much attention to us and wants us to pass our examinations well. Most of the teachers that taught me all these years are kind people and good professionals.

Some pupils in our form want to enter the Teacher Training University and to become teachers at school. But I myself do not want to be a teacher because this profession is very difficult. The profession of a teacher demands a great erudition and a great patience to children. I believe, that people, who teach children, must have more time for self-education and must be paid well.

2. Grammar (Теоретический материал для повторения)

Числительное обозначает количество или порядок предметов при счете. В английском языке числительные делятся на количественные и порядковые.

Порядковые числительные (Ordinal Numerals)

Порядковые числительные образуются путем прибавления суффикса -th к соответствующим количественным числительным:

four -(the) fourth четвертый

seven -(the) seventh седьмой

eighteen -(the) eighteenth восемнадцатый

Исключение составляют числительные one, two, three:

one -(the) first [fe:st] первый

two -(the) second ['sekond] второй

three -(the) third третий

При образовании порядковых числительных от числительных five, eight, nine, twelve перед суффиксом -th изменяется написание основы:

five -(the) fifth пятый

eight -(the) eighth восьмой

nine -(the) ninth девятый

twelve -(the) twelfth двенадцатый

При образовании порядковых числительных от количественных числительных, оканчивающихся на -ty, конечное -у меняется на -ie:

twenty -(the) twentieth двадцатый

forty -(the) fortieth сороковой

При образовании составных порядковых числительных только последний разряд приобретает форму порядкового числительного:

(the) forty-eighth (the) fifty-third сорок восьмой пятьдесят третий

Существительные, определяемые порядковыми числительными, употребляются с определенным артиклем:

The first mention of Moscow was in 1147. Первое упоминание о Москве относится к 1147 году.

При обозначении номеров комнат, домов, трамваев, автобусов, троллейбусов, глав, параграфов, размеров одежды и обуви вместо порядковых числительных могут употребляться количественные числительные, при этом артикль the опускается, а числительное ставится после существительного, к которому оно относится.
