Бесправные американцы
На прошлой неделе Amnesty International, ведущая международная неправительственная правозащитная организация, опубликовала первый доклад, в котором США обвиняются в нарушениях прав человека. Из него со всей очевидностью следует, что Вашингтон имеет не больше оснований и прав стоять на защите прав человека и карать тех, кто нарушает их, чем, например, Багдад или Пекин. Более того, опубликованная информация ставит под сомнение репутацию США, как ярого сторонника защиты прав человека. Было установлено, что среди наиболее распространенных в США нарушений – пытки и жестокое обращение с задержанными в полицейский участках. Зачастую защитники правопорядка расправляются с нарушителями без суда и следствия. Сторонники организации яростно протестуют против избиений и изнасилований в тюрьмах, а также против весьма экзотических ножных кандалов и управляемых на расстоянии электроремней, позволяющим надзирателям наказывать заключенных ударами тока. По мнению психологов, данные непристойные нарушения затрагивают не только физическое, но и психическое состояние людей, а зачастую приводят к умственному и психическому расстройству. Но главное чисто американское изобретение – смертные приговоры малолетним преступникам, которых держат в тюрьме до совершеннолетия, а затем казнят.
Данные нарушения противоречат главному закону страны – Конституции, в которой говориться, что все граждане равны перед законом. Сложившаяся ситуация волнует и представителей общественности США, которые требуют более гуманного отношения даже к тем, кто преступил закон.
