Active Vocabulary
Impress (v) – производить впечатление, поражать: to impress smb.; She impressed me as a scholar. To be impressed at – быть под впечатлением от чего-либо; кого-либо: She is impressed at his deep knowledge of the subject. To be impressed by: She was very impressed by one of the male dancers. – Один из танцоров произвел на нее сильное впечатление. To impress with: She impressed me with her grasp of the subject. – Она поразила меня своим пониманием предмета. Impress smb. favourably – производить благоприятное впечатление; easily impressed – впечатлительный; deeply, greatly, strongly impressed – глубоко пораженный.
Impression (n) – впечатление, понятие, мнение; general/painful/ personal/vivid/false/wrong impression; to gain an impression – получать впечатление; to make/produce a (deep, strong) impression on smb. – производить впечатление на кого-либо; to be under the impression that – создается впечатление, что; to leave an impression of smth. – оставлять впечатление от чего-либо; to give the impression – создавать впечатление. Impressive (adj) – производящий глубокое впечатление, впечатляющий, выразительный: impressive speech – яркая речь.
Urge (v) – убеждать, советовать: to urge (forcefully) on (upon) smb. smth. – убеждать кого-либо в чем-либо; настаивать: The teacher urged on her students the importance of passing the examination. Urge smb. to smth. – побуждать, заставлять: What can we do to urge these lazy workers to greater production?
Urge (n) – побуждение: to control a (sudden) urge – сдерживать (внезапный) порыв; to feel an (irresistible) urge – испытывать (непреодолимый) порыв/желание.
Wonder (v) – интересоваться; желать знать; размышлять; сомневаться: I wonder who it was? – Интересно кто бы это мог быть? I shouldn`t wonder if… – Неудивительно будет, если… To wonder about/at a problem – размышлять над проблемой.
Wonder (n) – 1) удивление, изумление: (It is) No wonder that… – Неудивительно, что…; 2) чудо: It's a wonder that we didn't get lost. In wonder – в изумлении. One-day wonder – злоба дня, кратковременная сенсация. To work/perform wonders – творить чудеса.
Deny (v) – 1) отрицать; отвергать: deny doing smth.; to deny the charges – отвергать обвинение; 2) отказывать(ся), отрекаться: He could not deny his own son. He could not deny his own son anything.
Refuse (v) – reject, turn down – отвергать, отказывать; отклонять: to refuse to do smth.; He refused to deal with her. To refuse point-blank – решительно отказываться.
Refusal (n) – отказ: to meet with a refusal – столкнуться с отказом.
Remind (v) – 1) походить: remind smb. of smth.; She reminds me of her mother; 2) напоминать о чем-либо: remind about smth.; Do not forget to remind me about her birthday.
Reminder (n) – напоминание (в письменном виде).

People involved in motion picture industry
Director – the director of a film tells the actors and technical crew what to do and decides how the film will appear on screen.
Lighting technician – deals with the lighting at a theatre, a concert or film set.
Editor – cuts and puts together what has been filmed in a particular order.
Costume designer – designs the clothes to be worn in the film.
Film critic – writes and expresses his/her opinion of the film.
Special effects engineer - creates the special effects for the film.
Make-up artist – does the make-up of the actors.
Sound engineer – controls the sound in the film (dialogue, music, sound effects, etc.).
Stuntman – performs the dangerous acts that the actors can't do.
Double – a person who looks like the actor and acts in scenes the actor is unwilling to do.
