16. How to book a hotel?

Decide on a hotel. Does it fit the travel budget? Is there any extra cost to having kids share a room? What type of room is needed? All are questions that should be answered when renting a hotel room. Check the hotel web site, if available, or check travel web sites for hotel reviews.Check with your travel agent about the accommodations. Call the hotel directly. While you may get a better deal on discount travel web sites, they probably won't tell you about exclusive special deals. Make sure you politely ask if they have discounts, and they will tell you if they have or not. Ask the clerk any questions you might have when making the hotel reservation. If you get it done now, you won't get frustrated later. You may need to ask about parking, pets, smoking, if it is on a steep hill, etc. Request an information packet or brochure about the hotel, to ensure that you know exactly what to expect. Confirm the reservation and write down the reservation number. Confirm the hotel's cancellation policy.

15.Tour manager

Tour managers organise and accompany groups of holiday makers on package tours to a wide variety of UK and overseas locations. They are responsible for ensuring travel arrangements for holiday makers run as smoothly and enjoyably as possible from beginning to end, as well as providing them with practical support throughout the trip. In some companies, before tours are publicised and booked, tour managers are involved with planning tour schedules.

Most tour managers work on a self-employed basis for tour operators, ranging from international companies to small, special interest operators. This is a demanding, but varied and rewarding role. You would need to be available at almost any time to give advice, solve problems and deal with emergencies like loss of passports or money, illness or difficulties with accommodation.In some companies you may be known as tour director rather than tour manager.

12.Types of hotel

The word hotel derives from the French hôtel - a place offering accommodation. Hotel operations vary in size, function, and cost. Most hotels and major hospitality companies that operate hotels have set widely accepted industry standards to classify hotel types. For the sake of greater comparability, rating systems have been introduced, with the one to five stars classification being most common.  General categories include the following;

  • Conference and resort hotels often contain full-sized luxury facilities with full service accommodations and amenities.

  • Historic Inns and boutique hotels often contain luxury facilities of varying size in unique or intimate settings with full service accommodations.

  • Boutique hotels: differentiate themselves from larger chain or branded hotels by providing an exceptional and personalized level of accommodation, services and facilities.

  • Extended Stay Hotels offers affordable temporary housing accommodations for business travel, budget vacations and lodging for relocation

  • Destination Club. In a destination club, in exchange for a one-time, upfront, mostly refundable membership fee, and annual membership dues, a member gets access to a roster of luxury vacation homes around the world, which can be booked based on availability and reservation priorities, plus personalized services and resort amenities such as beach clubs, luxury spas, private chefs and more.

There are also a lot of types of unusual hotels like: Cave hotels, Ice and snow hotels, Garden hotels, Underwater hotels etc.

10.Import,export

The term import is derived from the conceptual meaning as to bring in the goods and services into the port of a country. The buyer of such goods and services is referred to an "importer" who is based in the country of import whereas the overseas based seller is referred to as an "exporter". [1] Thus an import is any good (e.g. a commodity) or service brought in from one country to another country in a legitimate fashion, typically for use in trade. It is a good that is brought in from another country for sale.[2] Import goods or services are provided to domestic consumers by foreign producers. An import in the receiving country is an export to the sending country.

 Import of goods normally requires involvement of the customs authorities in both the country of import and the country of export and are often subject to import quotas, tariffs and trade agreements. When the "imports" are the set of goods and services imported, "Imports" also means the economic value of all goods and services that are imported.

This term export is derived from the conceptual meaning as to ship the goods and services out of the port of a country. The seller of such goods and services is referred to as an "exporter" who is based in the country of export whereas the overseas based buyer is referred to as an "importer". In International Trade, "exports" refers to selling goods and services produced in home country to other markets.

 Export goods or services are provided to foreign consumers by domestic producers.
