Mrs. Dursley could keep on speaking about her precious Dudley for hours, and by her stories one could think that there wasn’t a better and cleverer boy than her son.
2	Если вы не перестанете сидеть целый день перед компьютером, вы совсем потеряете зрение. Как насчет того, чтобы пойти вечером в бильярдный клуб и немного отдохнуть?	If you don’t stop sitting in front of the computer all day long (the whole day), you will lose your sight completely. How about going (What about …) to a billiards club in the evening and having a little rest?
3	По вечерам вся семья обычно сидела перед телевизором и смотрела бесконечные мыльные оперы. Я не помню, чтобы они когда-нибудь говорили о чем-то серьезном.	In the evening the whole family would sit (used to sit) in front of the TV-set and watch endless soap operas. I don’t remember ever hearing them talk about anything serious.

Я понимаю, что ты ограничен в движении, но у тебя ясная голова и тебе есть, что вспомнить.	I’m tired of lying (staying) in bed and looking (staring) at the ceiling all day long (the whole day). – Why not start writing your memoirs? I realize that you are limited in movement, but you have a clear mind (your head is clear) and you have something to remember.
5	Стюардесса должна продолжать улыбаться и ободрять пассажиров, даже если она понимает, что с самолетом что-то произошло, и они все находятся в опасности.	The air hostess must continue smiling and cheering up the passengers even if she realizes that something has happened to the plane and they are all in danger.
6	Я начинал думать, что я был не прав, но продолжал сидеть и улыбаться, как будто ничего не произошло. Мне было трудно заставить себя извиниться, но я осознавал, что рано или поздно это придется сделать.	I was beginning to think that I was wrong but continued (kept on) sitting and smiling as if nothing had happened. It was difficult for me to make myself apologize (to bring myself to apologizing) but I realized that I would have to do it sooner or later.
7	Дирижер поднял свою палочку, и оркестр начал играть. Сама музыка и ее исполнение были такими прекрасными, что когда музыканты закончили играть последний фрагмент, зал разразился аплодисментами.	The conductor raised his baton ['bxtPn] and the orchestra started to play (began playing). The music itself and its performing were so beautiful that when the musicians finished playing the last passage, all the audience burst into applause (burst out applauding).
8	Студенты должны знать, что когда их преподаватель заходит в аудиторию, они должны немедленно перестать разговаривать, и встать, чтобы поприветствовать его.	Students should know that when their teacher comes into the classroom, they must immediately stop talking and stand up to greet him/her.

10	Когда погода была хорошей, мы бывало ходили на прогулку в лес, собирали грибы и землянику, слушали пение птиц и наслаждались тишиной и покоем.	When the weather was fine we used to go walking in the woods, picking mushrooms and strawberry, listening to the birds songs and enjoying its peace and quiet.
