Крытый грузовой вагон - железнодорожный вагон предназначеный для перевозки грузов, которым необходима защита от атмосферных осадков(снег дождь). Стандарнтый крытый грузовой вагон имеет по бокам раздвижные ворота для погрузки-выгрузки грузов. Опционально могут иметься люки для освещения и отверстия для вентиляции.

Универсальные — предназначаются для перевозки тарно-упаковочных, штучных, сыпучих грузов. Благодаря специальным приспособлениям могут использоваться для перевозки людей.
