Mikhail Lomonosov was born in 1711 in Archangelsk province. His father was a fishman and his mother was the daughter of the deacon, but it was brought up by the step-mother. He was a gifted child and he had an encyclopaedic education.

At 19 he went on foot to Moscow and entered the Slavonic, Greek and Latin Academy. Also he studied in Un. of St. Petersburg and Un. of Manburg in Germany.

Lomonosov was a many sided person. He was interested in physics, mathematics, chemistry, literature, mineralogy. Also he was a great poet. He wrote odes about famous people and historical events.

As for science, he the 1^st has apply algebra to physics and chemistry. Also he was opened the first Chemical laboratory in Russia.

One of the main achievements is the atomic-kinetic theory. According to this theory all bodies consist of atoms and molecules which are in motion.

In 1760 he has formulated the law of conservation of matter and motion.

In 1755 he founded the 1^st Un. in Russia.

Except a science he also restored the ancient art of mosaic.

Thus Lomonosov was the unique scientist, a reformer, a teacher and a humanist.

He has introduced the contribution to a science.

Today many things bear his names. They are craters on the Moon, Un. in Moscow and Stream in the arctic ocean.

Perm is one of the big cultural centres in Russia. In our city there are many hospitals, shops, prestigious restaurants and trading centres, fashionable hotels, banks.

Perm is famous for a its theatres. There is opera House, Drama Theatre, Puppet Theatre, Theatre for young spectators and Theatre “U mosta”.

All theatres are remarkable for talented troupes and interesting shows.

Also there is a number of interesting museums in Perm. One of them is The Perm State Art Gallery, opened in 1922 by Serebrennikov. Gallery is famous for wooden sculptures and many masterpieces of Russian and foreign painters.

In Perm Museum of Local Lore it is possible to see ornamental stores stuffed animals, collection of national costumes.

Also there is open air ethnography museum at Khokhlovka, Kungursky ice cave, Belogorsky Monastery, Perm-36 the former labour camp.

There many entertainments for children in Perm such as zoo, circus, planetarium, 3 parks of Culture. Also there are all conditions for playing sports. There many stadiums, skating rinks, swimming pools, modern sports complexes, extreme park.

Perm is proud of Architecture. Thanks to the first governor of our city Karl Maderah, streets are located in parallel and perpendicularly to the Kama River.

Also in a city it is possible to see many monuments. There are revolutionary monuments, Wer memorials, monuments to famous people and funny monuments.

The educational potential of Perm is very great. There are many secondary schools, Lyceums and gymnasiums, high school, research and design institutes.

Thus Perm is a modern developing city which attracts many tourists.
