The Infinitive

The Forms of the Infinitive

Continuous	to be asking	–	выраженному сказуемым.
Perfect	to have asked	to have been asked	Выражает действие, предшествующее
Perfect Continuous	to have been asking	–	действию, выраженному сказуемым.

Infinitive (to speak – говорить) – неличная форма глагола.

Функции инфинитива:

• Подлежащее (To read in English is difficult. – Читать по-английски – трудно).

• Именная часть составного сказуемого (My task is to study. – Моя задача – учиться).

• Дополнение (I want to read English books. – Я хочу читать английские книги).

• Определение (The book to be translated is interesting. – Книга, которую надо перевести, – интересная).

• Обстоятельство цели и следствия (To translate this text I need a dictionary. – Чтобы перевести этот текст, мне нужен словарь).
