The Kovrov State Technological Academy
The Kovrov Technological Institute was founded in 1967 to meet the town’s needs in quality technical education. In 1996 the institute was reorganized into the Kovrov State Technological Academy.
The head of the Academy is the Rector. At present the Academy comprises four faculties: the Mechanical-Technological Faculty, the Physical-Technological Faculty, the Faculty of Automation and Electronics and the Faculty of Economics and Management. Each faculty has a number of specialized departments and is headed by the Dean.
The teaching staff includes 152 lecturers, 23 of them are Doctors of Sciences, 89 - Candidates of Sciences.
Currently the KSTA educates more than 20000 students; among them more than 100 are international students from Angola, Congo, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
The Academy has all modern facilities to assist students in their studies and research. The classes and research work are conducted in three buildings. Students have at their disposal several libraries, research laboratories, computer classrooms. The Academy has a hostel for 360 residents.
Post-graduate training is also provided at the Academy. Full-time and part-time post-graduate students study and do research at the post-graduate courses at the Academy.
There is a military department at the Academy where young men have an opportunity to receive the rank of reserve officers.
The Academy trains future engineers, economists, managers. The graduates are working at various plants, design offices and research institutes.
