Further Study
There are many books on the subject of body language, but there is no substitute for simple 'people watching'. Notice what you feel about people when you are watching them and then bring to your conscious brain what exactly you are seeing that makes you feel that way. Body language is a complex mixture of signals - micro gestures - and cannot accurately be read from one movement alone. A person with their arms crossed in a meeting will probably be construed by many people as being closed minded, but this person might just be cold! If on the other hand the same individual is giving minimal eye contact and is sitting back rather than forward together with a level of tension visible in the body, they have indeed probably closed their mind to proceedings.
If you are seriously interested in studying body language and you have access to a Sky Plus box or hard drive recorder, try playing one scene over 3 or 4 times frame by frame to notice change in micro gestures.
