2011-2012 Учебный год Английский язык 7-8 классы Уважаемый участник олимпиады!

Олимпиадная работа по английскому языку для учащихся 7-8 классов состоит из трёх разделов, включающих 41 задания. Раздел 1 (Чтение) включает 20 заданий, из которых 7 заданий на альтернативный выбор (предлагается решить, истинным или ложным является данное утверждение); 6 заданий с выбором одного правильного ответа из двух предложенных и 7 заданий на перекрестный выбор (из двух списков единиц подобрать пары по тем или иным предложенным признакам). За каждый правильный ответ выставляется один балл. Максимальное количество баллов за выполнение заданий Раздела 1 - 20. Рекомендуемое время на выполнение Раздела 1 – 45 минут.

Раздел 2 (Лексико-грамматический тест) включает 20 заданий, из которых 7 заданий на множественный выбор (предлагается выбрать правильный вариант из нескольких предложенных), 6 заданий на перефразирование (предлагается найти слово, которое соответствует данному определению) и 7 заданий на заполнение допущенных в тексте пробелов словами, артиклями и т.д. (клоуз-тест). За каждый правильный ответ выставляется один балл. Максимальное количество баллов за выполнение заданий Раздела 2 - 20. Рекомендуемое время на выполнение Раздела 2 – 45 минут.

По окончании выполнения заданий каждого из этих разделов не забывайте переносить свои ответы в Бланк ответов (Answer Sheet).

Раздел 3 (Письмо) состоит из одного задания и представляет собой небольшую письменную работу. Рекомендуемое время на выполнение этого раздела работы – 45 минут. Максимальное количество баллов за выполнение заданий Раздела 3 - 20. Черновые пометки делаются прямо на листе с заданиями (они не оцениваются), и только полный вариант ответа заносится в Бланк ответов (Answer Sheet).

Общее время проведения олимпиады – 135 минут. Максимальный общий балл за выполнение работы – 60.

Рекомендуется выполнять задания в том порядке, в котором они даны. Постарайтесь выполнить как можно больше заданий и набрать наибольшее количество баллов.

Round the world

Jonathan and Claire Spenser both had very busy jobs and didn’t have enough time to spend with their young children. They wanted to change this and, because their hobby was boats, they decided to sail round the world together.

It took six years to prepare everything for the trip. First, they bought a new boat. Then, both adults had to take advanced sailing lessons and learn all about the sea and the weather. Jonathan also did several courses in repairing engines and Claire spent an hour in a restaurant learning to cut up fish.

In October, they took a one-year break from their jobs and sailed away from England with their two children. The next year, in August, their long journey ended in Australia.

The boat was quite small, but Jonathan and Claire took a teacher for the children with them. None of them found the trip boring because there were three computers, many CDs, a television and a DVD player on the boat.

The family loved being at sea and seeing the stars in the sky. But, most of all, Jonathan and Claire enjoyed spending time with their children while they were still young.

Never a dull moment!

Local schoolboy Nick Baxter talks about the day when he discovered something surprising in his back garden.

People think that Tadcaster is nowhere special and that nothing exciting ever happens here, but they’re wrong. Last summer I was digging the garden to help my mum, when my fork hit something hard in the earth. It was a small, round, metal bowl. It was a dull green colour and quite rough. “It’s just an old bowl,” I thought, “it isn’t anything valuable,” and I gave it to my mum. She put it somewhere in the house. We didn’t tell anyone and we forgot about it.

Then last week someone found a lot of Roman remains in the field behind our garden. Mum said, “Where’s that metal bowl which you found in the garden? Perhaps it’s something important!” At first we couldn’t find it anywhere but then we found it under a pot plant in the hall. We took it to the local museum. Guess what! It was a Roman bowl. You can see it in the British museum now. It looks really nice and shiny.
