Our University
Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University is a state-owned higher educational establishment falling under the responsibility of Ministry of Education, Science Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
Accreditation level – IV is the highest in Ukraine. The academic organization of the University is based on 6 faculties: Automobile, Vehicle Mechatronics, Mechanical, Road Building, Business and Management, Transportation Systems, and 4 divisions: Distance, Professional check, Foreign Citizens Training, Pre-University Training, which, in turn, comprises a two-year regional lyceum, a preparatory department, preparation courses that train applicants-to be for entrance examinations, and vocational training courses.
The University provides education and training in 11 fields, 21 specialities and 27 specializations.
Full-time students study 4 years for a Bachelor’s degree, 5 years for a Master’s degree or a Specialist’s qualification while part-time students study 5 years for a Bachelor’s degree, 6 years for a Specialist’s qualification; the period of external studies is over 3 years.
KhNAHU is headed by Rector Anatoliy Mykolaiyovych Turenko, Professor, Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Honored Scientist and Engineer of Ukraine, Ukrainian State Prize Winner, Academician of Transport Academy of Ukraine (TAU), of Russian and New-York Academies, Honored Citizen of Kharkiv.
Over 70 per cent of the teaching staff at 35 departments have academic degrees and titles. KhNAHU’s academic staff includes 12 Academicians and Corresponding Members of TAU and other academies, 7 Honored Scientists, Engineers and Educationalists of Ukraine, 7 Ukrainian State Prize Winners.
Modern computers, new information technologies, satellite and cable television are available to support the educational activities. In 42 specialized study rooms, 1200 Internet- connected PCs are united into a University local net. The University also has its own publishing house.
Among unique laboratories of KhNAHU there is the Laboratory of Racing Cars well-known and widely recognized due to its achievements in car design and racing competitions.
The Chair of Environmentally-Friendly Technologies working under the auspices of UNESCO was created at the University some years ago.
KhNAHU’s educational and scientific production complex includes secondary comprehensive schools, lyceums, vocational schools, secondary technical schools and enterprises in Kharkiv-city and Kharkiv region as well as in other cities, towns and regions in Ukraine. A unique testing field for road-building machines, motor vehicles and tractors is available at the University.
Diplomas awarded by KhNAHU are recognized in all countries the University trains students for. The needs of students are served by 6 halls of residence, a Health Centre, a canteen, lunchrooms, cafes, a Student’s Club, sport facilities, a holiday camp, etc.
