Topic 24 some large airlines in ukraine

I'd like to speak about Aerosvit, which means 'sky world', operating as Aerosvit-Ukrainian Airlines. It is the largest Ukrainian carrier, operating scheduled domestic services to 11 cities and international services directly or by code-share to 20 destinations in Europe. It also has long-haul international services to China, India, Thailand, Canada and the USA as well as charter services. The airline serves under scheduled and charter programs 59 international destinations in 31 countries. Its main base is Boryspil Airport, Kyiv.

The airline was established on 25 March 1994, and started operations in April 1994 with flights from Kiev to Tel Aviv, Odessa, Thessaloniki, Athens and Larnaca in co-operation with Air Ukraine. Aerosvit Airlines is owned by State Property Fund of Ukraine (22%), Aerotur-Agency for Air Communications and Tourism (40%) and Gilward Investments (Netherlands) (38%). It has 1,447 employees (as of March 2007).

Aerosvit aircraft comprise two-class cabins – business and economy – on all of its international flights. The Aerosvit Airlines fleet consists of 16 aircraft, 17 orders and 7 options (as of 13 May 2009).

Aerosvit Airlines has signed interline traffic agreements with over 100 airlines world-wide. The airline has special prorate agreements signed with number of leading global carriers including American Airlines, Emirates and Thai Airways. Aerosvit Airlines has 12 code-share partners.

The strategic objectives of Aerosvit Airlines are the following:

- to position Aerosvit Airlines as the airline of choice for the global alliances and leading airlines seeking a strategic partner within Ukrainian, Eastern European and CIS markets;

- to develop its international route network with Kyiv-Boryspil, as its main hub, benefiting from own and interline transfer traffic flows;

- to provide effective domestic and international feeding for own route network, as well as for that of code shares partners and other carriers operating to/from Kyiv-Boryspil;

- to develop its non-stop intercontinental long-haul services and suitable connections;

- to safeguard its leading position on routes between Ukraine and destinations in Europe, CIS, Middle East, South-Eastern Asia and North America.

Topic 25 kirovograd flight academy of national aviation university

The Academy is considered to be one of the best international flight schools and is the unique component of the national education in Ukraine.

Its history began more than 55 years ago when Military Aviation Flight College was created in Kirovograd in 1951. In 1960 the College was transformed into the Kirovograd Civil Aviation High School, which carried out training of aviation personnel for Aeroflot and airlines all around the world till 1978. That year the Kirovograd Civil Aviation High School started functioning. In 1993 by the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine the College got the status of the State Flight Academy of Ukraine. In 2011 it became a part of the National Aviation University. So, the high quality of training at the Academy is based on the great experience and many years' traditions.

At present the Academy has the following structure:

- Air Navigation Institute, which comprises Air Traffic Service Faculty, Foreign Languages Training Department and Training and Research ATC Simulator Training Centre;

- Flight Operation Faculty;

- Management Faculty;

- Kirovograd Flight School;

- Post-graduate courses;

- Flight Simulator Centre;

- Aviation Technical Maintenance Base;

- Scientific and Technical Library;

- Sport Club 'Icarus';

- Club, hostels and canteens.

In 2000 the Academy joined the UN program TRAINAIR (civil aviation personnel training international program), also it became the member of Innovation Centre of International Educational Programmes INCOS.
